Given our injury problems over the last few years, if we aren't able to figure out what the issue is and sort it for next season then we can expect to be ravaged by injuries and need a deep squad. So I'd say getting rid of players isn't the priority. The players we have currently aren't like the previous deadwood that we just needed to get rid of, these guys are good enough to contribute to a long season. The focus should be on bringing in the right personnel to improve the squad.
To get the quality we need that's about £125m, we ain't spending that. We will get a top quality striker and bargain basement DM and CB..
You know what other 'top' clubs do when a player is highly requested, and open to the idea of going? They improve his contract enough for him to stay, and ensure them steps are being undertaken to have a chance at success in the near future. There are very few Totti type players who would stick with a club until they're not needed, and I think that's smart of them. If you've noticed the club's loyalty in return doesn't exactly scale so well past a player's twenties...
Tbh I a top striker will cost the most of our budget. A DM would be around 20 million and the LW might be a bargain one. Cb isn't that big a priority as I see Verm staying. We only need a 4th choice CB
I thought Verm was out of contract this Summer, if that's the case he's gone, hardly played for 12 months and will be snapped up by any number of clubs. His replacement would cost £20m but Wenger will not spend that kind of money on a CB, he'll hunt the French youth teams....
No one . Lets just wait till the dust has settled. I dont wanna see knee jerk reactions Although things were terrible today , they have been much worse in the past .
we used to tie an onion to our belts , which was the fashion at the time . Arsenal were terrible then too , so im not too bothered
Unless you have quality back up you get exposed when rotation, suspensions and injuries set in. We've been ripped apart when Gibbs and Sagna have been absent because the back-ups are poor....
Jenkinson can suffice. Not too sure about Nacho but we don't need to be spending 20 million on squad players.
Ideally you replace someone with equal talent, 60-70 games is a long season so there will be plenty of opportunities for everyone. Keeping them all happy though is a different matter...
I would keep Jenks over Nacho. he is fast and has a physical presence . He hasnt made many mistakes ...i would give the lad another few seasons to mature.
Giroud needs to go, that is a given. I think Arteta will play alongside Ramsey next week and will have a good game as they work better as a partnership than Arteta and Flamini. I do think we need a new player for that position next season though and let them fight for a place. Podolski is a player I see as being affected by his mood. If he feels things are going well he is far better but with Giroud alongside him he is far from happy. Replace Giroud and he can come good again. One of the problems we have is lack of depth, lets keep the squad we have and ADD to them as far as possible. Some we wont be able to affect like Sagna and Bendtners contracts ending (Campbell will replace NB in the squad imo) but I want us to strengthen rather than replace where possible. Except Giroud who I want replaced.
