To appoint an experienced Director of Football such as Damien Comolli or Nicola Cortese seems to make obvious sense but I feel those types seem to clash with a head coach who carry their own philsophy. Therefore I would appoint somebody already within the club and already part of the boardroom and with affiliation to the club and the ability to oversee matters in communication and the general flow of club matters which would be Peter Beardsley. I would keep the chief scout and treasurer the way they are because Lee Charnley would certainy be qualified because Mike Ashley would let no fool near the finacial side of things that's for sure. Chief scout Graham Carr has done great finding technically gifted players for very small fees abroad but the club could do with his expertise to find domestic young gems who we could progress into complete midfielders or forwards etc from the academy. Now we need a head coach, Alan Pardew can not do it. I don't even know what sort of coach he is. Does he favour attacking, passing football? definitely not. Does he favour counter attacking style? despite having the perfect squad for it the answer is know he isn't competant enough to recognise any potential style suited for the playing staff. Graham Carr obviously does, Graham is definitely picking players to accomodate a 4-4-2 counter attacking style, he just doesn't know that Alan wants a target man and an enforcer and some really big defenders <laugh>. My pick would be a man with contacts and knowledge of football, a philosophy! Experience in boardroom level and also on a dugout scale of things, very good English, who is itching to get back into coaching and wants to try his hand in English football, used to working in high profile clubs and still relatively young, Leonardo. His assistant would be better off appointed by the club considering both that he hasn't always had a familar assistant he insists on working with and that a promote from within policy works great as proven by Barcalona. I would personally pick Nobby Solano, as a manager he took a Peruvian side off the foot of the table and left them mid table and did that with a commendable style of play and also the respect of his players. Their it is a dream team of Leonardo and Nolberto Solano as coaches, the football would be marvelous and results would be astounding.

Nothing to do with the thread but wish Pardew would watch Everton playing free flowing footy against the Gunners he might learn something from Martinez.

Alan Pardew would learn something from Joe Kinnear who at least had the decency to get on his bike.

The area where we are short in terms of completing transfers and sorting the team out for next season is someone to negotiate the deals and "get them over the line" as there's a **** load of work to this summer. Kinnear was a disaster. Llambias wasn't too hot at it when he came to the club but by the end he seemed to have got to grips with the industry. Right now there is nobody. Lee Charnley maybe but who's to say he's up to the job? He's actually quite young so does he have the experience and especially coming from being Company Secretary? Peter Beardsley clearly isn't the man to negotiate transfers so we can forget that one.

Couple of points Cortese was not a DOF, are you really suggesting Carr spend his time looking at 14 year old school boys and finally whilst we all rate Nobby highly I don't think he has enough experience, Peru is not really the stepping stone to European League management.

Oh yeah I wasn't aware that Beardsley was a director, youth team I believe.

Leonardo has the contacts and the knowledge of technically gifted players would leave it to others to bring them in for a reasonable price.

Those 14 year old school boys could be the next English playmaker or goalscorer or even the English Cafu. Nobby's experience in Peru is good enough for assistant.

Comolli is experienced in wasting lots of money. At least he wouldn't get that here.

What a hunk. Like a wonderful blend of a frog, Gollum and Mo from the Simpsons.
