I don't think I'm saying anything controversial in stating that CH is a dead duck and that, whatever happens, he will not be our manager next season. He seems to have lost the fans and he may now have lost the players, too. If the board don't sack him, there will be a disastrous period of in-fighting at the club which could mean that we spiral downwards and it will be a long time before we turn things round. At the end of the season, Hughton has gone. So I would argue, more controversially, that keeping him for the last five games means that relegation becomes a certainty. He won't be fighting for his job because it's gone, the mood amongst the fans will be even more poisonous, and the last few games have shown in my opinion that he does not have a clue how to deal with this situation anyway. So I'd also argue that we may as well give Adams the reins for the last five games. We'll probably lose them anyway, but at least it's a last roll of the dice and it might bring the fans back on board. I am not suggesting, though, that Adams is promised the job on any longer basis than those five games. We don't want another Gunn situation. This should be made clear to Adams and, if he keeps us up, there are no promises of him getting the position long-term. Instead we should offer him a whacking bonus because the money we would save by staying in the Prem dwarfs any cost. I know people will talk about risk, but is there really any risk any more? Does anyone think we will get a single point from the last five games with Hughton as a lame duck manager? The last 18 months have been awful. The number of times we have looked completely out of our depth in this league must be in double figures. At least sacking him now and putting someone else in temporary charge would send out a message to the fans that this nightmare is almost over.
I don't agree that CH won't be fighting for his job or in other words, coasting. He's got a career to think about and whatever we feel about his performance, other teams still rate him. He'll want to keep that reputation and keeping norwich up will do just that. I'd imagine contractually there will be big cost difference between sending him packing now compared with middle of next month if we're relegated. I agree that whatever happens from here on in, CH will not (read: should not) be in charge next season. A freak set of results and safety in the final 5 games won't alter my view on that.
Hughton isn`t going anywhere until we are in the bottom 3 ,our board set their stall out during the January transfer window and stubbornly sat on their hands and hoped the problems of not scoring and being an absolute joke on the road would simply vanish but it didn`t and we are in the ****. We all know that we will be humiliated next week at Fulham again and give them the springboard needed to scrape out, we have a habit of losing to teams who are on a dreadful run West brom for example had conceded in each of their last 11 games winning just one so we gift them a lifeline and a much needed clean sheet .
I think with Adams it depends entirely on how the squad feel about Chris Hughton, & we're led to believe that the squad are behind him (the odd Hoolahan issue aside). If he'd 'lost the dressing room' (as yesterdays performance would suggest), then there's the possibility for someone like Adams to come in fresh and galvanise the squad. However, if the squad are still with CH, then replacing him with Adams could well make it even more unsettled for the players. If the players are still with Chris Hughton & we choose to replace him, the only option is someone with a bit of experience that the squad can respect.
Or by getting Adams or someone else in it might give the players a sense of shame as for how they've performed for him this season and give it a massive go at Fulham for there pride. A win against Fulham would surely mean survival & condemn them? This is the most important game in years for this club & it's got to be approached right or we are ****ed.
Why do people think Neil Adams is going to keep us up. He's the youth team manager and people want him brought in for what could be a season defining game. Even I think we would be better off with Hughton.
It's called desperation. I don't hold out great hopes, but I feel almost 100% sure that we will lose all five of our remaining games with Hughton in charge. At least let's try to do something even if it fails. I know that sounds kind of pathetic but he has lost all credibility so there must be an alternative with a slightly better chance of succeeding surely?
Adams or another it doesn't matter if it means the atmosphere changes at CR and at Fulham so the crowd aren't baying for blood after a mistake or bad pass. It would posibly create a united front for the last five games. Can you see the atmosphere changing if he stays in charge?
Surely fans resigning themselves to NCFC relegation is not a great message to sent to the players? You may think that is the case, but equally you seem to think if we win against Fulham we will stay up. Why not get behind the team for that match at least? You blame the players for giving up or not playing well, but many fans are hardly helping the situation. Yes they are paid to do a job and paid well, you would hope they would be more mentally tough but many are not. That is across football not just Norwich. Other sports seem to have athletes who are much tougher mentally then footballers.
As far as I am concerned that is all history for the minute and all that matters is this one game. In the run up to it and during it I don't care about past performance. It should be irrelevant to the players and manager.
I expect to lose all away games because of history and past performances, at home we are capable of the odd shock win.
How can you say it's all history? Have you not been to or watched us away from home this season ? We are total and utter ****e away from home. It's like men playing girls( no offence ladies) What makes you think CH will be able to lift, inspire, motivate this lot for the Fulham game? He couldn't get them up for yesterday in what was a far more winnable game? Unless a miracle occurs on Saturday(& as it's not Xmas)which is highly unlikely I'm expecting us to simply roll over and gift Fulham our PL place.
Absolutely not. This would mean certain relegation as far as I'm concerned. Would be an even bigger disaster. If we change, and we really should, then we get in something completely different, with experience.
