There is no way that Monk should be handed the managers job next season, he simply isn't good enough, he must be replaced whether we stay up or be relegated. Yesterday's performance was woeful I travelled nearly 300 miles to watch that crap yesterday. He has no idea what to do when things rant going well, totally out maneuvered by Steve Bruce yesterday. More concerning for me is that he has come out and critisised a player by name, something our past managers correctly avoided doing. The blame does not lie with one player it belongs to the team starting with the manager. This was a worst performance than the West Ham debacle a few weeks back. Whichever way you look at to this guys not up to it. Everybody was happy after Norwich win but for me it only papered over the cracks, let's be honest Norwich were extremely poor, proved again yesterday when they lost at home. I even fear for next season with all the damage being inflicted on the club in recent months.
I was repeating your question. ditto - Same again, me too, I agree. Graduate really is ironic, isn't it?
Yep, I'm not happy my second team are playing almost as bad as my first team The player manager role, even when it's mostly manager, doesn't have to much recent historical precedent to be worth pursuing. Perhaps because many players are too thick, and whether they're considered inspirational or not, they haven't studied the game from a manager's point of view and thus tactically tend to be quite naive, bordering on stupid. Don't get me wrong, a lot of players go on to become manager's, but they almost universally require experience of coaching and assisting before they ever become a success. So, when you guys come to Toon on the 19th, and my Canadian girlfriend asks which team is Newcastle, you've presented me with quite the f***ing problem... I was going to say "the team passing the ball about nicely, building attacks and generally looking like they'll thrash the other", but Swansea are also playing like hapless morons at the moment . I still think and hope Swansea will win, 2-0, because Newcastle have been safe for a while, and our play is **** and it might just stir the board into some action
You have my deepest sympathy for going away and having to watch that crap served up yesterday, I said on the match day thread that the away fans should receive an apology, and refund! at the moment Monk is gutted judging by his post match interview, but I agree he is not the man for the job, we threw away a very achievable 3 points again yesterday, as Hull were crap!............... PS: I was surprised he singled out Rangel for conceding the goal, not the thing to do in my view.
The players were happy enough to eat up all the public praise this time last year, so maybe a public dressing down will deflate the egos in the dressing room. Rangel should be embarrassed with his defensive 'attempt' to stop the goal yesterday.
Just can't wait to get this east over and done with. We can re group get a proper manager in and start the re build thats so obviously needed. Just hope we have enough points to keep us up.
Shows a distinct lack of class, not to mention his 'F'ing and blinding pitch side that was caught on camera, Monk will not get the job despite what Dai rants on about!.............
We'll have to agree to disagree Phil. These players need taking out of their comfort zone. If Monk is that unimpressed with Rangel, I'd drop him next game. That would send a message to he rest. The players obviously ain't listening in private, so that leaves Monk with very few options. Agree about the swearing etc though. We need 4-5 players in the summer that are better than the current players.
Monk was totally out of order in publicly criticising Rangel - that sort of thing is for the dressing room and only the dressing room. It's all over the media today. So, what price team spirit and unity now? Gone up in smoke it seems. Two comments, though. I find it priceless that Monk chews out Rangel for his weak defending in the air when Monk himself was no great shakes in that department and Rangel, who played with Monk, is well aware of it. Secondly, without having watched it twice, was that a cross that a committed keeper could have reached? Could Vorm have done better? First time viewing indicated that perhaps he could have. Perhaps you guys can enlighten me on that. Whatever, it seems as though the honeymoon period is over. Being Mr Popular on the training pitch only lasts so long, only takes you so far. When that disappears what are you left with? In our case, a tactically naive manager with very few contacts to help us bring in quality next season. However, no doubt, Jenkins would like to keep his puppet in place, a puppet that costs far less than an experienced man and will satisfy Jenkins' wallet. I fear for us, I really do.
Quite right Phil showed no class at all, naming individuals for errors is just passing on the blame for a display that was totally unacceptable. Any gripe he had should be dealt with on the training field. Monk simply cannot handle the pressure probably down to the lack of experience he has. I cannot recall any of our previous managers coming out and blaming an individual for making a match losing error. Less talking about staying undefeated until the end of the season and more action in achieving it. Monk has lost my respect totally.
I was out all day yesterday, so I've only seen highlights on MOTD which never gives a good overall picture of how the game went. Judging by what I've read on here, it was another one of our half-hearted performances and I'm not convinced that is the fault of Garry Monk. The good points of having Garry Monk in charge (again from what I've read) is that the intensity of training has been greatly increased and (using my own eyes) his pitch-side attitude is better and he says in interviews what he really thinks without pussy-footing around issues. The standard of performances has been erratic. Sometimes we look pretty hot and on other occasions that malaise that we endured at the end of last season has crept back in. I don't believe that is Garry Monk's fault as I'm sure he's got the dressing-room more fired up than under Laudrup. There are others on here who will be more qualified to judge whether tactically he is naive or whether his substitutions are wrong. Personally, I think he's done ok. So, dead man walking? No, not yet.
Monk is being steered around by whispers, from players to managment .He didnt pick that FA Cup team against Everton and hes to close to some players to satisfy the rest of the players . He was thrown into a scenario that self confidence was bound to fail , he's being led, instead of leading.
Is it that to many are just not that good at this level or a lack of pride/confidence in their skills to be able to give it 100% for the full 90+mins. Or are to many of them just coasting by thinking their worth the big salaries they take from us and just milking it while they can ? Or is it just a blip ( again ) and we will get back to winning ways and with a few changes storm the prem next season ? These and other questions will remain unanswered for now so coys stid etc...
