Surely he is worth a punt, I know he is injury prone but he is a fantasic player when fit. I read earlier this week that PJ said Ipswich could not afford his wages & hull were paying half of the reported 45k.

I know NC/NA wouldnt even consider paying that for wages, but think we could offer him something to be tempted to move down south.

Could only see loan if anything. NC wouldnt even go near 45k wages either. Better to keep looking at Cork

Wouldnt go near him - Ipswich were losing games left right and centre towards the end of last season (admittedly they had nothing to play for). So he cant be that influential at this level.

He is also old and injury prone, he isnt the future, he is a short term fix who would be more costly than someone who would come and put in a shift, a hungry player out to progress. Paul Lambert spoke sense about the players he brings in to Norwich - how he avoids "big names" who have achieved a lot, as with the best will in the world they arent out to put their "shoulder to the wheel".

I think where we have the advantage over a lot of champsionship teams is that the likes of Ipswich seem to have little in the way of scouting networks to uncover the emerging players, and hence rely on the "proven" players who are not what they used to be and have little in the way of futures. I would much prefer us to sign another Spiderman, Stephens or Aaron Martin, rather than signing the likes of Ellington, Koumas, Ingimarsson and Bullard. We know from Connolly, Murty and Jaidi that, although class, they cant handle 2 matches a week and can spend a lot of time injured.

His knee is worse than Holmes and Svensson's combined.

How 'bout no you freaky dutch bar-steward.
A simple 'no' would have done, but I felt the need for over emphasis.

Good points in your last paragraph and I fully expect our first signing of the window to be someone that we haven't really heard of, and definitely not one of the same old targets that come up every year.

No point signing players in their 30s with our long-term ambitions.

He is far too injury prone. We already have Connolly on the books, so can't afford another sicknote player.

Wouldn't touch him with a barge-pole. Injury prone, and huge wages that could be spent on 2 or 3 really good players who can actually stay fit, are younger and can grow WITH us! Good player and would give a good atmosphere in the camp but it's a huge no no.

It's a No from me too.

Too many injuries and too big a pay packet.

Good player when he's fit though

Sounds like you are very familiar with the area Singing Blue.
A word of warning for you likely kerb crawlers from Portsmouth - the police can quickly identify cars from your neck of the woods. They are usually untaxed, uninsured, no MOT and bald tyres

Cracking player when fit. Would definitely be one of the top performers in the Championship when he is, but you wouldn't get enough Saturdays a season from him to really see it.

That is the sort of semi trophy signing from the Lowe era. we have moved on, and NC would NEVER sanction that sort of player. They will be much younger, with their best days ahead of them, not behind them.
