Howard Webb is a good referee but he hasn't been as consistently good this season as he has in past season. Its seems many of the supposedly top refs in this league have been making a lot of elementary mistakes this season and we have certainly seen some of them.

Is he still England's referee for the WC?

Yes. With Mullarkey and Cann going as his linesman.

With the season that Webb has had he will only get a meaningless game @ the WC.

Webb even missed a blatent arm-ball by Nolan @ Sunderland on monday night at an important stage of the game.

He gave some very soft fouls, but nothing that really affected the game

Lots of fouls today, but that was down to the players 99% of the time. Lots of clumsiness on show today. Thought Webb handled them all very well. Just one yellow card, when he could've been waving 'em all over the place. Lots of quiet words with offenders.

    Good show from the ref.

Webb did a very good job today. Hope rumours that Clattenburg will do the Cup Final are true. Another no nonsense ref who doesn't get much wrong. And he's been a bit of a good luck charm for us as I recall. Just hope we make it.

I've often been impressed with Webb. He's a lot more no-nonsense than the others.

Didn't see much wrong by either to be fair, other than when Figueroa was upended without being flagged, although that was quite a big **** up as far a I could tell. There was lots of baying for a goal kick when the ball didn't quite cross the touch line at one point, but that was just people getting it wrong. Other than that, all the calls seemed about right. I like Webb in that he doesn't blow up for every little thing that some refs do which lets the game flow far better. He also doesn't take any **** from the players.
