I now feel we have the best chance we've had since relegation of going forward, a rich owner that's ambitious and doesn't take second best won't accept poor performances and a lot of deadwood contracts expire this season. Think I am going to leave on a high now and watch the GP qualifying
According to the SkyBet guy I was sat next to on Tuesday, there are only a couple on end of contract this summer. Does anyone have the list?
According to transfermarkt.com Butland Kebe Stewart (Though don't we already have an agreement in place? ) Pugh Ashdown Brown Cairns Are all out of contract at the end of the season
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Drury According to that he signed a two year contract so he must be up as well. Diouf is also up http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26179266 Green out of contract this summer. Norris and Kenny a year left expires July 215
Fair, transfermarkt can really only be used as a rough guide. They have Drury's contract expiry as "?"
Not sure it'll matter. Expect Cellino will have his own way of terminating contracts. He arrives to work Monday in Leeds. Should be a fun week ahead
Agreed, anyone surplus to requirements I can see being paid off. Either way that makes us able to say goodbye to: Dury Diouf Green Ashdown Cairns Brown Pugh Varney Not counting the loan players. I would imagine 4-5 of those are on nearer to £10k a week (Diouf, Dury, Pugh, Brown, Varney) lets assume the other three are on around £20k between them a nice saving of around £3,600,000 a year. We might also be able to sell a couple of players if they are surplus like Austin and Lee's or Byram. Guess it depends on what the manager whoever he might be feels we need or who Cellino springs on us, exciting times ahead Edit ** Varney now added
Yep, I don't expect any of them to be retained. I'd like to think at the very least Varney and Norris would be added to that list
Nice I thought we had him on a worryingly long contract, so that makes me happy. Think players like Hunt will be given an opportunity? Or think Cellino has made his views perfectly clear and they might as well clear their locker now?
Personally I wouldn't mind betting Hunt will leave for free and join McDermott when he gets the boot and both will end up somewhere in the first division, we just need Warnock to get a new job then we can say goodbye to Kenny as well. I can see a new team being built around the defence we have maybe with one addition there and a new keeper and Ross up front, thought Tonge did okay today as well. All this guess work, at least its more exciting now we know we have a man with some dosh
Lees ain't up to it. Pearce has had to try and carry the back four all year. Player of the year for me.
Think we will see some Italian players with skill at Elland road next season,I mean we do have an expert on Italian players with us now.
I can see Brown being retained for another year unless we can find a genuine DM enforcer. Other than that, I agree that there will be a big clear out.
Thanks guys. Ariyibi off books aswell. That is a good list, much more than this guy told me, and means we have spare money and spare places for good competition. We have some good youngsters coming back from loans out too. If Chelsea take that Poyet lad off Charlton and don't play him, we should pay top dollar to take him on loan for the season. He should be number one priority. Latin enough to be close to Italian. That removes Austin from requirement. Always said Lees was a liability and not good enough - needs to move on and become a great player (as all our players seem to do when we have decided they are not good enough) under some better coaching. But he was playing football today. If MC comes in and makes the right noises, I can see our STs nearly double next season.
He made our midfield look daft did poyet but too good for championship , Cellino will buy all the ****ters out of their contracts and let the next manager buy who he wants he wants good football so wont accept **** players Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I understand why lees keeps being picked though, he's a bit quicker than all our other centre backs but has dropped off since taking all the blame for everything that went wrong in Warnock's tenure. Pearce has definitely been better than the others, Wootton I think might have a future. I'm honestly not sure he will, Cellino never really spent much at Cagliari so why would he change his style for Leeds United? I think this is fans being more hopeful than realistic imo.
