Hmmm...not looking good fellas, Reading 1-0 up. We are fading I fear! Gotta a find 2 goals from somewhere!
We will lose sometimes but so will the other teams we need to just keep battling and see where we end up.
Just makes it much much harder. All is not lost,I've not given up hope yet. And congrats to the boing boing baggies today for winning at carrot road.
Have to agree Mads...didn't seem hungry enough 2nd half....sounds a bit pathetic but lets not judge them on one performance, although worryingly far too dependent on Williams.
I think, and personally speaking, the loss is harder to stomach because we've done so well and being in touching distance of 6th the optimism is so high that its a real punch in the chops. Still keeping the faith tho. It ain't over till the fat bloke sings and I can't hear him yet.
Not over until the fat lady sings but it does look a tough task now, I think this is the first time where i've felt it's beyond our reach really. I liked the lineup as I thought Nouble and Wordsworth deserved their chance today. But again the subs were very predictable today, why take off a creative midfielder off, rather than Hyam or Skuse, Nouble was having a poor game yet didn't go off and again no Taylor on the bench who even though may not be Micks cup of tea could be a game changer when we're losing. I still think although Skuse is our most talented CM but he just seems to make our midfield unbalanced and doesn't bring out the best of those around him, I think Hyam is far better when he's the one seen as the sitting midfielder and he also provides his partner more support when we attack, Skuse just seems to sit back too much. Agree with you with regard to Williams though, he's a great player but agree with yourself about being too dependant on Williams, we were the same with McGoldrick as Mathie said today we need to do more to support them. Micks mentality (or our teams) seems to be we'll keep it solid give Williams the ball and hope that he manages to pull a rabbit our of the bag rather than supporting him and offering to be an option for the pass we leave him and McGoldrick to get on with it, fortunately they have managed to pull something out of the bag a few times this season. As I've said before we defend as a team under Mick but I don't think we attack as a team, it seems to be down to the whole team to defend but only a few to attack. We need to attack as a team!!!
In the context of the last couple of seasons I am delighted by the progress we have made this season and although today is disappointing there will be better days to come! Who in their wildest dreams would have thought that we would be in with a shout of the playoffs at this late stage of the season! I think we will fall short but ultimately there are so many positives that we can take from this year and with Mick at the helm I think that next year will definitely be our year! And besides we may have the old farm derby games to look forward to and by god do we owe them! All is not yet lost but it will be bloody difficult now but top ten would still be a great season!
Top ten would exceed my expectation of top half and will leave me satisfied with how the season went overall. Sure we've lost some points from winning positions but we've also gained a lot from being behind. Going from relegation fodder to play off contender in such a short space of time is absolutely brilliant.
Like most, I take so many positives, and we were bound to lose one or two, we couldnt go on expecting others around us to go on giving us amazing favours! I just wish we had gone out with blazing guns and attack attack today - seemed a limp performance 2nd half. With all to play for, we seemed to roll over a bit. But all in all, with the players we presently have, and those we expect to have come August, I think we shall be in a good strong position to have a real crack from the off next season. It will be time for thumping that cheque book ME! For at least 2 players. How we wish Williams could be in the frame! He has certainly thrown some magic dust of PR ! And like everyone else on here, I have greatly enjoyed the ride these last few weeks...and it aint all over yet with 6 games and 18 points to play for. Win at Uddersfields Tuesday and Reading do indeed have some tough games ahead.
