It's even more wonderful that I'd dared imagine. He makes my ovaries hurt.

Look at poor little David's face, proud but heartbroken, like a mother bird watching her fledgling teetering on the edge of the nest for the first time

Heh, at one point he says "yes....uh, si" and goes back to Spanish for David's benefit. Don't you worry, Poch will keep Salas in fashionable coats and hipster glasses for a long time yet.

To be fair that offside decision was shockingly bad.

Probably the first time he speaks English and the FA will come down on him like a sack of Spuds and fine him for being out of order having the temerity to criticise one of the Untouchables!

That is exactly what will happen probably. I would be an awful manager, as I would have no money left and never be on the touchline. They are awful these officials. "It is a hard job". Not for linesmen, when they have one real job to do (seeing offsides), especially one which is so far offside, you could fit a london bus in that gap. Ridiculous.

I am guessing that the Lino didn't see the back heel, only the long pass, however the player was offside in that instance as well, but Chris Foy was in the ideal position to see it and didn't.

Indeed, the only way I can possibly comprehend not giving it (beyond becoming a conspiracy theorist) is that he didn't see it come off Dzeko, but in that case all it takes is the simplest bit of communication with the ref who had a clear view to see it did (The ref probably could have just given the offside himself, it was that far). It either means that neither the ref or lino had the sense to confer with the other given that they possibly couldn't get the full information alone, or that one of them is so mind-bendingly incompetent that they failed to notice what was right in front of them. Whichever way you look at it, it's just plain awful officiating.

Yeah you are right, whether he touched it or not it was offside. Curiouser and curiouser. Oh well maybe we'll get a dodgy one next week. Just kidding we obviously never will.

Might as well really, pretty much every other not606 board has a ref conspiracy or two.

Unless the Lino thought the ball came of a defender, since the pass was a back-heel. Surely his eyesight could not be so bad not to see the gap?

It was more than shocking bad. Half a yard, to a yard, is shockingly bad. That decision was unbelievable. I'm sorry, but I'm going to keep bringing this up, but video technology has got to come in and not only monitor, as it does now, but have the authority to intervene. I'm not saying that Saints would have won or drawn the match, but even professional players become disheartened and distracted when something that poor is allowed.

And by the way, there may have been a bit of chat about it, but I don't see any headlines in the papers. Imagine what it would have been like if we had scored that kind of goal against Man City..? One rule..?

At one point I said to my son "we wouldn't get a penalty here if one of their defenders pulled out a bottle and smashed a Saints player over the head right in front of the ref and the goal". About 2 minutes after I said it, we were awarded a penalty.

It's got to be getting nearer and nearer to hawk eye being used in football. Like cricket they get so many appeals maybe something for the fa to look at. We can get instant replays in seconds now in football it won't take too much time to appeal.
