Can't help but feel a bit sad at this one, for all his faults he's the most open and honest chairman around and has a connection with the fans no other club owner has, think we are going to be losing some of that with this.
While I don't use Twitter and only look at the stuff posted on here, I agree with Frome, a shame to lose a direct line of dialogue with Tony, which was part of the entertainment. All that stuff about Twitter at the fans meeting with the club was a bit po-faced and exaggerates the importance of a football club, its not as if he's giving away state secrets. Does he give a reason? I wonder if he is going to make an unpopular decision and wants to avoid the abuse he will get as a result?

Is it a result of the Media meeting that Roller went...Tony on Twitter was discussed then...He has been told to quit hasn't he?
I'm not sure I've got that much clout at the club His twitter usage has been discussed every single time and did receive criticism (not from me as I rarely venture onto the medium and was blissfully unaware of many of the individual instances being raised) for a number of "unhelpful" tweets and various unfulfilled promises. To quote the minutes: • Ian Taylor acknowledged all of these issues. The media team provide advice and recommendations to Tony Fernandes and the board on a weekly basis. • The shareholders own the club and are entitled to voice their opinions and views and hopefully the positives of communicating with fans in this manner outweigh the negatives. They feel it's good to have a Chairman that wants to communicate, even if it sometimes causes challenges. There may have been some drip, drip effect of continual requests to think more carefully about what he tweets, but I'd be very surprised if IT and PM told their boss to stop.
I suspect if someone told TF to stop doing something he would just do it more. He's decided to to this, probably because he's sick of engaging with morons.

Simple, a small number of morons can have a big influence on him and twitter has more than its normal share. You just have to look at the death threats or racist abuse people get. I imagine Tony will get a fair amount of abuse should be not go up. Or maybe he's just got tired of sad acts begging for freebies.
Glad he's quit it..takes his image from a 15 year oldgirl to a multi million pound bussinessman..Oh yeah, thats what he's supposed to be !! Had far to much to say to certain posters and NOTHING he ever said or promised on TWITTER was ever true... Its full of bull and liars 7 as a club we really shouldnt be associated with it..esp because of all the negative and bad publicity it brought us.... Now if we could just stop the players using Anyone remember anything good EVER coming out of using Twitter?..didnt think so The day that f-ing media get sued and closed down, will be a very happy day for me..... Thats my personal opinion..each to thier own..
