News today is that Villas Boas is set to become the new manager at Chelsea and if he does he will try and bring Falcao with him. Surely this means we should go for Sturridge as he will be way down the pecking order behind Drogba, Anelka, Kalou, Torress and Falcoa if indeed he does join.

I think if this does happen then I hope we table an offer because he is a young & hungry striker who has proved he can score goals and quality goals to. Him Ben Arfa, Ba and Marveaux will be so powerful it would be amazing.

    What do you think?

    Edit: Spelt name wrong, sorry!

It's a yes from me. He's powerful, he's got pace, has an eye for goal and has come on alot since joining Bolton who would've struggled without his goals.

Could easily become a hero round here and £12million for a young, talented.... ENGLISH striker would be good business.

Would not want him on loan first though as if he played well his value would sky rocket ala Carroll and we'd be priced out.

If they get Torres back on form, and have a trio of Drogba, Torres and Falcao rotating, next season they are going to be ****ing terrifying.

This would be great. However I think Hiddink is the man who will return to Chelsea- all the going's on in Turkey would suggest he's leaving for Chelsea.

However we should still persist with Sturridge, it looks like all their current strikers aren't going anywhere and can't see him getting ahead of Drogba/Torres

  6. I'm pretty sure Chelsea have said they'd accept no less than 20m for him.

very much doubt Villas Boas will be going to Chelsea, as last i read, he was trying to distance himself from the Mourinho comparisons

I've only read that in one place and it wasn't from Chelsea? £12 million has been reported by alot more outlets.

I think £20m was given out to ward off interest whilst they look at other targets.

If we can get Sturridge and Erdinc for a total of 20mil I'd be very happy.

I've read that as well, nothing wrong with being compared to one of the best managers in the world!

If Hiddink gets it he'll have his own targets as well.

  15. We have no chance with Doumbia. Erdinc looks like he's off to Lille.

Possibly, although the teams mentioned bing Liverpool and Spurs so again, could be they won't sell to a 'rival' on the cheap. The NOTW reported this > http://www.football.co.uk/newcastle_united/toon_to_offer_sturridge_no__9_shirt__rss1693047.shtml and The Journal reported £12 million.

Personally, if he doesn't get used in any deal for Modric and they bring in 2 strikers i reckon it could happen.

Sturridge is a very good young striker. I'll definitely have him, he's got excellent pace, movement is good & his finishing is very good. 20m a bit too much though IMO. <ok>

i thought sturridge was by far the best player for the eng u21 the only forward who stood out and if we could buy him for 12mil that would be a steal and an english player- give him a run of games and he will be deadly look what happened when he was playing for bolton
