You're wrong there MITO, Harvard Business School are nothing if they are not good at using any 'talent' that may help them make money. Plus this programme is not designed for students. However, if it were then one of the first thing that every graduate entering their MBA is taught is to approach all inputs (from whoever) on the basis that "This may not be the truth".

ermm so you are telling me they are sitting saying is this bullshit artist for real.... or if i put my cynical hat on are all the rich kids looking down their nose at the old rummy and thinking... like the owners of rock of Gibraltar that time... who does he think he is.

but i take your point that they prob paid him with free holiday plus some ridiculous cash fee then sold spaces for the gullible to come along and thus prob made a killing? that it? in any event i'm sure the Americans are more interested in the business model the glaziers did to suck all the cash form utd for zero personal outlay then the nuances of brown envelopes.

The people attending these classes will just be businessmen paying $20,000 a pop in tax-deductable training funds so they can write on their CVs and corporate brochures that they studied under SAF at Harvard.

No business schools are actually schools.

2 things about HBS graduates. YES -- even their own tutors and professors. But don't run away with the idea that they're all rich kids, over 50% of their MBA students recieve bursaries.

This programme is a pure money-spinner.

Sorry astro you're talking complete rubbish! Their MBA is consistantly rated as No1 in the world and their Doctorial programme ranks No1 in the USA and No2 in the world.

But he's British, and a Knight of the Realm, to boot. They'll be hanging onto his every word- once they get an interpreter.

of course it is... but thats not to say that this "course" is part of an mba programe or just some assbandit getting off on having a "famous" person in there... context is vital after all. I'm not assuming its one or the other but i do know ferguson's insights lend little but a sight of the kind of peoepl they need to look down on form their ceo positions as they rob the world blind ;)

MITO, I said right at the start that this programme was NOT part of the academic curriculum.

Out of all other business schools <doh>

It is top because it's the one the richest prop up the most and this kind of publicity stunt is the kind of thing that keeps them top. It's just another case of who you know not what you know.

Fergie has nothing of value to teach unless he's actually going to be honest and say he bent every rule to its limit, used media to intimidate officials, used contacts to influence agendas, used money and power to control the media, bullied and threatened opponents and critics, mentally and physically assaulted employees, etc. etc.

Which is precisely why anyone foolish enough to enrol on his course will fail miserably in life and almost certainly end up unemployed or in jail.

Hmm, so all the top money people prop up a business school that brings in people with nothing to say to give lectures, then charges future top businessmen money to listen to them. This sounds very much like people who have had the business accumen to accumulate a great deal of wealth and those who are hoping to emulate them are a bit thick or you need to take your biase hat off. I will ponder which it may be for the next day or so!

This should be one of those short films.
A down-and-out Moyesey looking mournfully at the camera from under a moth-eaten woolly hat, while a serious yet compassionate voice-over intones:
" David Moyes was a successful football manager - until he met Fergie........"

It's top because it is ranked so academically due to the quality of the staff it employs, the curriculum it employs, the quality of the research it undertakes, the facilities it provides, and the performance of its students.

All Post-Graduate Schools in the USA attached to universities are stand-alone unfunded enterprises essentially. However many former students who have been highly successful have provided bursaries to assist graduates who di not the financial wherewithal. In the UK, Oxford and Cambridge Universities still enrole more public school students that state. That does not mean that they are not the top universities.

Given the fees at Harvard it is not common for graduates families to fund their studies. Generally, students with the assistance of bursaries fund themselves or the fees are paid by their employers. The aim is not to make the most money that it can from students. That comes from research and publications and corporate programmes such as the one Ferguson is employed on. Whilst the fees are certainly high I see no difference in principle with the situation at say John Moores where post-graduate studies attract no state funding for students.

Apparently Rooney has informed Moyes that since Man Utd's league position is now irrelevant he will only play CL games and then leave for "warm weather training"
