Here's the place to talk about the 2014 FIFA World Cup! You can talk about all things England and the latest going on during the competition.

Will England win the World cup?
Will they even get out of the group?
Who would you take to Rio?
Who would your starting 11 be?

As the competition comes closer, I'll be running a game similar to the Guess it game but instead of Bristol city, it will obviously be England. Let's hope it last longer than 3 games!

    COME ON ENGLAND!

The media will hype us (well some of us) into believing this is the year as always

However we all know it'll end in tears the way it always does, possibly in the group stage or 2nd round.

I gave up giving a **** about England a long long time ago when the parasite Beckham was all the FA cared about. For me that was a watershed moment and opened my eyes as to how stupid they were, putting celebrity over ambition

Well if comes down to me going to bed for a bit with 'er indoors or staying up late to watch a bunch of over-hyped, overpaid under-achieving prima donna's I know which it will be. I just can't get excited about Englands world cup games so will at best watch highlights.......yes, all three games!

Ross Barkley would be in my squad. (and team)

Gerrard is the only one of the old guard that deserves another crack, and I suppose Rooney has to be included, apart from that I would be going kids.

I think our glaring problem is CB's..... Apart from Caulker there isn't any decent one's coming through, Jones and Smalling aren't England quality imo, yet anyway. I like Cahill but Jagielka again isn't international quality. Hoping Caulker can get a big move in the summer (apparently Liverpool are interested) and he can prove himself at a big club, pushing his way into the England squad to partner Cahill.

Another problem is strikers, just glad Sturridge is in form as without him we look very weak upfront. Rooney can be hot and cold. Rodriguez has no experience and don't know how he will handle the pressure. Didn't pick Lambert as it was quite clear in the Friendlies he can't hack it against the better teams, he would be non existent against the likes of Uruguay and Italy, would probably be better against Costa Rica and with the players we have, he wouldn't be effective in a 4-2-3-1. Need a bit of pace upfront. Rodriguez and Sturridge will give us that, Rooney, Sterling and OX all behind adding extra pace. Lallana adding the creativity, Gerrard with the long balls and bit of grit.

We won't make it out the group stages at this one, were so poor now we have gradually been declining for years the prem is the problem none of our talent comes through instead they spend years playing in chelseas reserves before being released, Very few take caulkers route and force themselves most happy to pick up pay checks

Strangely enough I think we're finally seeing a good crop of players coming through our ranks, nothing in the Spain, Germany mould of players, but English players who will have good careers

    Shiny

I think our forwards are a bigger problem than our CB's, granted they are not as good as many a previous squad going to a major championship, however up front if Sturridge got an injury or ban we are f***ed, as Rooney is sooooo overrated and Wellbeck is OK, beyond that we have NOTHING!!

To get out of our group this time will be a big challenge. Italy are an ageing team but their ability to retain the ball will run our midfield in to the ground. Uruguay should win the group and will go very far this year. Then it is a straight shoot out between us and the Ities.

Interesting how different minds think as there is not 1 shout for Carrick in any of the squads on this site, yet the BBC site has him as one of the "on the plane" players. If he is then it shows how negative we are, Carrick is rubbish and I would much rather take a punt on a younger guy, Carrick has had more than enough opportunities in the England team and adds nothing.
