Swansea City and West Brom have joined the race to sign West Ham midfielder Jack Collison. Scouts from both clubs were at the DW Stadium on Tuesday night to check on the 25-year-old Wales international as he played in Wigan Athletic's 2-2 Championship draw with Leicester City. Collison was loaned out by Hammers boss Sam Allardyce to Wigan earlier this season and is eligible to play in next week's FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal. West Ham officials are coy on whether the youth team graduate will be offered a new deal, but with only a year left on his current contract, clubs are doing their homework on a potential free agent. West Brom made an enquiry over Collison's availability in July 2011, amid reports that a £2.5million bid was on the table, but he eventually signed a new deal at Upton Park. Collison could be tempted by a switch to Swansea to team up with Welsh international teammates Ashley Williams, Neil Taylor and Ben Davies. http://www.sportinastorm.com/Premier-League/Swansea-City/Swans-eye-Hammers-star/X1Y77Z1737441? I'd be happy with this to be honest. Just a little bit injury prone though
Instead of who though,? , obviously dependant on who we keep but I can't see him getting in front of any of our existing players .He has a history of being loaned out quite a bit so maybe he hasn't progressed as quickly as he might have been expected to .Isn't he the player who's dad was killed just before a game but he decided to play regardless ?,
Just wish we launched a real bid for Jonny Williams... Did anyone see his goal on the weekend? Wow! Just wow!
Good call - he's looked good playing for Wales as well as in the Championship. If Palace go down maybe we could enquire in the summer.
Please no, Just wouldnt improve our team in any way. I am with Boundy on this. to replace Who? Good championship player at best. We already have a better player than him on loan at Sunderland.
Lee Lucas is as good ! Just how do we fit in a player that will be 4th choice ? I think the club know what we need and I don't think it's him, having said that they threatened to sign emnes for 2 yrs and finally did it in January. Uninspiring if true,we need better than collison.
I agree with NJ, Boundy and Trundle, that signing wouldn't strengthen our team at all. We need players who will improve the squad and we have better players than him in that position already. As for Jonny Williams, I said last summer we should have signed him, and I think we should try and get him this summer, he's a skillful player with bags of potential.
Jonny williams is a total different player, young and classy and will eventually be a top calss PL player. Would love to sign him.
Don't think Collison is the quality of player to improve our team. Would be a decent Championship player at best.
Its very difficult to attract any quality player if he is going to start off 3rd or 4th choice as quality players will only accept first choice and that is why if we want to add to a position that we already have players established in the team that we have to set our sights to the lower divisions to find potential players that will accept they are down the pecking order and is willing to fight for a chance of first team football. It will be an attraction of joining a premiership club with better wages anyway. My only hope is that we don't treat any new recruit like we have treated donnelly...
Whatever happened to young Donnelly? He went out on loan, returned a week or so later, and has been unheard of ever since.
Went to Coventry (I think) but decided to come back and as he signed on loan to them he cant play for us until next season. I think the apt phrase is in limbo.
Yes sadly he can only play for coventry and he does not want too, Its a stupid rule as we are his main club and pay his wages, It needs to be revised that a player who is out on loan can be recalled if the player expresses he dont like it there. Its not as if he had played a game and was only there a few days....
