Also whats the difference between rooney and suarez? play either up top and both will score loads. play both behind the striker and both will provide loads. Suarez has dropped back and his goal tally has stalled somewhat while Rooney has consistently scored when hes started as the number 9. I dont think its a big as your making out. I doubt their goal tallies would be too different if both played the same position every game. The thing is, both are good enough in various rolls that you can put them almost anyone across the front and get results.
How are they not? No matter what the definition Rooney fits into the world class category. Hes widely considered as one of the worlds best by the worlds best. His career also backs this up to a point where debating it is as silly as saying Suarez isnt world class either. Many more arguments could be made against him than Rooney
All I can say is that Suarez has a better work rate, ethic, advanced game intelligence, better vision, a leader, tactically aware, more versatile, better technique. Goal records are actually quite similar. But don't forget - Rooney has spent the majority of his career in a top class team. Finally, in a season where his team isn't performing, he only has 15 league goals to his name.
The bits in bold are nonsense The others I agree with to some extent. hes probably a little smarter with his game and coming from Ajax will have a better tactical awareness. Slightly better technique I suppose although very much up for debate imo. The bold bits are all in Rooneys favour.
Workrate - not saying Rooney is a slouch but Suarez chases everything, and he organises his teammates to press the correct player and the right time. Suarez causes so many errors as well through relentless pressure. Leader - Suarez has led his country to Copa America success. He's also leading a young, inexperienced attack at Liverpool which has become one of the most devastating attacks in Europe this season. He leads from the front, not only in terms of goals, assists but through his pressing.
I think you would find it hard to convince many that Suarez works harder than Rooney. He never stops lol. He'd run if you removed his legs The Copa America is like winning the LDV vans Trophy tbf slightly OTT perhaps but it seems like the countries just take turns winning it
Anyway back to work. Suarez = world class Rooney = world class. Very similar players at the end of the day, both bring so much to their sides and both are capable of 'it'
More capable of what gerrez? What can either do that the other cant. Very few things. Very similar players at the end of the day at very similar levels. If I had to pick, unbiased and based on just this season.... Suarez.
I know you like to take the piss UIR, but if that is genuine what an idiotic comment as I bet you have never even watched that competition. I bet the Copa Libertadores is a **** competition as well.
Despite his MU and bluenose allegiances, I like Rooney. He gives his all, tries to lead, great shot and strength... But this season, he hasn't been at his very best. Ditto RVP, Ibra, Xavi, Drogba, Pirlo, Gerrard - who are not at their best probably due to age rather than form. But once they were, and when they were, they could've been termed 'World Class'. This season, the only ones to have carried over their high standards from the previous seasons are Messi, Suarez, CR and Iniesta, imo. And Neuer in goalkeeping. Silva, Ozil, Bale, DeGea, Costa, Falcao have to show more of the same and/or replicate it on a different platform. Lahm, Shweini, Thiago Silva, Ribery, Robben have been on the verge, but there is a transcendence, a spark of genius missing somewhere in there. While Neymar is a spark of genius and nothing else atm.
Bigotted, knowing how well South America has done historically on the World Cup and FIFA club world cup stages. Or don't you know?
World class to me is someone who would get into any team in the world. Barton is 100% correct as usual, Rooney just is not and never will be world class. The only people who think he is world class are deluded ManU fans.
