"We are delighted to announce that The Ledley King Testimonial Committee will be staging a match at White Hart Lane to celebrate Ledley's career on Monday May 12, kick-off 8pm.

Our Legendary former captain will lead a Ledley Guest XI from his playing days against the current First Team on what is sure to be a special night of nostalgia and excitement at the Lane.

Good causes chosen by Ledley will also benefit and will be announced shortly.

The former England international made 323 appearances for the Club during a career which saw him lead the team to League Cup glory at Wembley in 2008 and help secure Champions League qualification for the first time in our history in 2009-10 before calling time on his playing career in the summer of 2012.

He has since spent the past two years as a Club Ambassador and has worked closely with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to support a number of projects aimed at creating life changing opportunities for people in the local community, as well as engaging regularly with the Club's fanbase both on matchdays and through specific supporter events at home and abroad.

Ledley, a rare breed in modern-day football in being a one-club man, is relishing the prospect of stepping out onto the pitch at the Lane one last time for this showcase fixture.

"I am delighted to be given this game by the Club," said Ledley. "It will be an extremely emotional evening for me, especially to play again at White Hart Lane in front of our amazing fans and I will savour every moment. This Club is so special to me and I hope that the fans can share in what will be a great night."

Chairman Daniel Levy added: "Ledley is one of the greatest players to wear the colours of this Club and we look forward to recognising his great service and loyalty with this game. It will be a memorable evening for everyone."

Keep an eye on tottenhamhotspur.com for further updates on who will form the squad for the Ledley Guest XI

From a mate of mine on Twitter:

Ledley: "Tim, I want VDV, Modric and Bale to be at my testimonial"

Tim: "Will do my best Ledley, What about Nabil?"

More positive spin PR bull-puckey from the Spurs hierarchy, deflecting the attention of the faithful from the complete wasteland we have made of this season

Ledders deserves more to be honest, than to lead any team out against the dreck we are currently served up in the name of a team.

Surprised that Real Madrid aren't the opponents considering our 'special relationship' and the fact that we could have 2, 3 or even 4 players who will have played, or will play, for both on the field.

    Amen.

Like Harry Redknapp said he was a freak of a player.

For someone to miss so many games and then to come in and be man of the match like ledley often was is amazing. Without the injuries I doubt he would of remained at Spurs and would of easily got over 100 caps for England.

Les Ferdinand echoed that at a half time speech about a year ago, he said had Ledley remained fit and avoided those terrible injuries, he'd have likely been seen playing in a Barca shirt.

Fabio Capello couldn't quite believe we had a defender of Ledley Kings ability (in England) and that is quite a compliment coming from the master of boring football based around the classic Italian way of defending and seeing defending as a form of art.

Les did get a little boo from sections of the crowd for suggesting it.

One of the best players that I've seen wear the shirt.
It's no surprise that he often popped up in those toughest opponent questions in interviews.

One of his best games was in a England shirt (Euro 2004), in that failed attempt to defeat the French and his partner that day was Judas.

Superb player and club legend, fully deserves his testimonial and he even made Dawson look England class when playing alongside.

Alan Green spent the entire first half ****ting on him for no justifiable reason - and by the end of the game his performance was so good it changed the mind of that fat, ignorant, loudmouthed gobshite.
