They have been the dominant team since 1992 so I think they have some right to be arrogant.

Whats worse? a team that hasn't won the title since 1989 suggesting other teams should be worried cause you have dalgish in charge and you went on a decent run towards the end of last season but still lost to spurs in the decider for 5th.

Liverpool are miles behind Yernited, Citeh and Chelski in terms of the quality and depth of Squad

6th probably, 5th at best as things stand, and only 4th if Arsenal fall off the edge of the cliff

Should Liverpool be worried about a debt ridden club that hasn't got a youth system worth mentioning, and is still dependent on a 37 year old.Actually it was 1990,and the man that won the last title is back. He's no ordinary manager,he doesn't bow down in front of the Govan Gob.

What is worse is a fan of a team that is so much less successful than Liverpool thinking he is in a position to join in the rivalry make such a statement and that he is somehow involved in that rivalry.

Thanks for your honest (albeit ****e) opinion, we Liverpool fans will make sure to take them as gospel.

Since we're doing unbased claims and opinions based on sheer ignorance and stupidity... I think Man United will get relegated next season because Vidic, Nani, Giggs and Rooney are all ****e. Chelsea will go into administration. City will leave the league and be shipped over the middle east.

Arsenal will come a close second as Liverpool storm the league in a 38 game unbeaten run.

Some of you lot could start an argument in an empty room. Pretty funny if you ask me!

Some of the behavior of opposition managers/players/fans does suggest that people are taking notice, and there's bound to be a bit of worry in that.

At the same time we haven't done enough for Utd and Chelsea to actually worry about us as a title threat, that's surely clear. We might be getting on their nerves a bit, and worrying them with the process we've started, but in direct terms of worrying them about challenging for the tittle, i think not.

Putting the squeeze on Arsenal and Spurs i think is a real possibility, and being a thorn in the side of the other 3 should be quite obvious, and that would be great progress. Kenny will make sure this season we make plenty of noise, and make sure everyone knows we're coming over the hill, but as for striking fear as title challengers well that's months away. If Suarez stays fit and keeps his form, and our main attacking signing settles, i see no reason why we can't at least be part of the pack towards Christmas, and until then we will be written off (rightly and happily so).

    A well considered post.

If we are serious for a moment then we will see that the Premiership ended last season in a complete mess (apart from maybe City). All of the clubs at the top ended the season with major problems to be addressed. None of them could claim to be 'just one player away from greatness'. In fact even buying a few players may not solve their problems - that is particularly true in the case of Chelsea and Arsenal.

It's not just our performances in the 2nd half of the season that will worry the others but also our financial and managerial (throughout the club) stability. Already when you hear Wenger, Redknapp etc talking about next season the name of Liverpool is now back in their considerations. To that extent they are begining to worry that we will be part of the mix. Before a ball has been kicked, the pundits are already considering a perm any 4 from 6 scenario for CL spots.

I agree with your final paragraph and we should not get carried away. I also agree with Gerrards comments about winning the thing. We should have our eyes on the POSSIBILITY whilst realising that regaining a CL spot with an improving young side would be success. Let's hope the others do right us off for it will be at their cost even if not at their peril.

I base my opinion on what I see.

And that is a Liverpool 1st XI in need of surgery, and the remaining 14 places (of a 25 man Squad) containing Players who are simply never going to compete at the sharp end of the Title Race.

To be contenders, I believe you would need to buy another 10 Players who are 1st Team Ready, and if the going rate for these Players is now as it seems a £20M Fee and £20M Salary Package, then you are looking at £400M to catch up.

And that is BEFORE the(currently)more successful Clubs make any further enhancements.

That may sound ridiculous, but take a look a what it took in terms of investment to Mad Citeh and Spurs to build their Squads up to a level they could even get to 3rd/4th

And if you believe that LFC are currently any better than Villa/Citeh/Everton/Spurs were two/three years ago, you're dreaming.

You mean the 1st XI that beat you 3-1?

I don't think we have played you for 3 decades, and the way things are shaping up may not for another 3!

Just like United hmm? I can't count 10 1st team ready players outside their first 11.

Well I think the evidence suggests you are wrong, United's Squad is not as strong as it has been over many of the previous 20 years, but when their Manager dug deep, his Squad provided the answers time and time again, that is why, despite losing key Players for large parts of the Season, they won the League.

The fact we paid £16m for a player, because Man united did exactly the same with Jones.

For a Player? I am not talking about Henderson, he is a young Player and could be very good, but across the past year we have seen many Players sold for £20M+ Darren Bent, Andy Carroll, Suarez, Torres, Dzeko, Luiz,

And that is BEFORE the(currently)more successful Clubs make any further enhancements. Again, what a load of ****. You're trying to say if we bought 10 20m players with 20m wages, the current top 4 clubs would still possibly be ahead of us?
No, I am saying, as I thought I had clearly stated, that the investment of £400M would put you in contention for the Title, but that would only be the case if those Clubs who are so evidently stronger now bought no-one and allowed you to play catch-up. it doesn't, and won't work like that.

That may sound ridiculous, but take a look a what it took in terms of investment to Mad Citeh and Spurs to build their Squads up to a level they could even get to 3rd/4th Because they don't invest wisely.
Really? Carroll £35M was wise? Henderson at £16/20M whatever it was, wise? Behave.

Of course we're better than they were 2/3 years ago, the league as a whole has moved on. If you'd like to compare our team 2/3 years ago to today, you'll find the core is still there just a few additions are needed, but then I wouldn't expect you to understand that.

Wow! The core of that Team was the Midfield Trio of Gerrard*, Mascherano and Alonso, with a rather good Centre Forward up front by the name of Fernando Torres, and that perfectly demonstrates my point, you would need to replace all of those Players AND have proper competition/replacements for them, and that investment alone would be what? Mascherano £25M Fee + £30M Wages, Alonso £30M Fee + £30M Wages, Gerrard £40M Fee + £40M Wages and Torres £50M Fee + £40M Wages, so to get back to that level, and has you have pointed out, the League has moved on since then, it would take £285M

And the rest of you're Squad would still not hack it.

*Hopefully Gerrard can have another year or three at a high level, but he isn't likely to improve and he is a long way off the level he was at then.

Gerrard, Lucas, Mascherano and Alonso were all involved. Lucas has proven to be better than Masch (in terms of stats), we still have Gerrard and we're on the lookout for a pass master. I don't know where you're getting your wages from, because most clubs don't look at it like that - there is a monthly wage cap, the owners will not look at a player and think "He's going to cost me £30m over the next 5 years," you're just trying to make the amount of spending we need to do sensational.

We've replaced Torres in the form of Suarez; whilst he isn't the same type of player - he does the same job. Yes we need to replace players, but your estimations are way off! Do you know how much we paid for Alonso? £10.7m. So why do you think we need to pay another £30m for an Alonso type player? When we could be on the lookout for the "next Alonso" for £11m...

You're also conveniently forgetting about youth, as we have proven (in the number of internationals) we have a very strong youth contingent ready to come through soon enough.

When his key players get injured he sticks in a stop gap and gets the scrappy win, such is the way of winners nowadays. It is not because the squad are particularly good, nobody can say the likes of Gibson, Bebe, Obertan etc.. are top class material, Ferguson just knows how to make his team grind out wins.

Carroll was a type of panic buy after we'd just lost our "star striker" and needed a target man. We had 1 hour to find someone or we could have been in trouble, so we spent over the odds for a player that is worth £20m, add another £10m for him being English and you're not far off what his price would be not far in the future. Don't go judging Henderson before he's even played a game for us.

Will you tell me why you think those clubs are "so evidently stronger," if we're going on the league places then yes it would seem so. If we looking at Dalglish's period in charge we would end up second. So we were either punching below our weight with Hodgson or punching above our weight with Dalglish, and I, along with many other Liverpool fans, will go with the Hodgson theory.

    I have mad my argument.

You answered it with it won't cost that much because we didn't pay those prices 6 years ago, Lucas is better than Maschearno and there is no evidence that the other Teams are better apart from the League Table.

    Amazing.

So you honestly believe £10.7m 6 years ago equals £30m today? I suppose you're conveniently forgetting about 3m euros for Afellay, or Hernandez for £7m, or Van der Vaart for £7m.

Lucas has better tackling stats this year than Mascherano ever did with us, considering Lucas is a defensive midfielder I think he's doing that job better than Mascherano did.

The league table shows us under Hodgson and under Dalglish - which by any accounts were 2 completely different halves to the season. You're deluded if you think we're the same team under Dalglish as we were under Hodgson.

Yes, I do believe that' what £10.7M bought you 6 years ago, now requires £30M, of course there are bargains to be had, but what I said was the 'going rate' for a 1st Team Ready Top of the Premier League standard Player is about £20M and then gave you a stream of recent Player Acquisitions that far exceeded that amount, I don't think too many would argue with me that £20M is wrong.

NO LUCAS IS NOT IN THE SAME CLASS AS MASCHERANO DON'T EMBARRASS YOURSELF, SORRY FOR SHOUTING!

The League Table demonstrates that you are better than 14 other Teams in the Premier League, and I have no doubt that Woy could have had you finish there or there abouts, I accept that you had a poor start, as much to do with the turmoil at the Club as Roy Hodgson tbf to the bloke, and the takeover with Kenny returning gave you a lift/bounce.
You played under no pressure whatsoever in the last 6 months of the season, I wouldn't take that as a barometer of how good or bad this Squad is, just as I wouldn't have had you down as Relegation Candidates when the world was falling in in the last days of H&G.

    5/6/7th is about right.
