First impressions. . . very, very, good. He's picked up the baton with pace, taking over from a man who seemed, by comparison, fatigued. Fresh, clearly intelligent, clear in his answers, witty. No big promises, pragmatic but hopeful. I am very optimistic - I've take to him straight away.
Can't add much more to that Glam Good interview on CCFC Player too. It did make a change not hear "Listen...*sigh" after every question.
dave jones was a moaner, full of excuses, blamed everybody except himself. i said somewhere on here that it'll be nice to have a manager who feels he has to succeed here, jones attitude seemed to be: 'sack me if you want, the fans dont know what they're talking about, find me a manager who will do a better job than me'. towards the end of his years here, jones came across as very complacent. hopefully, MM will be a bit more upbeat in interviews and on the touchline, i'm not saying jones didnt care but in the public eye he sometimes came across that way. as for the press conference, he gave all the right answers, as you'd expect any manager to do. i'm really looking forwards to next season, i applaud the board for not simply going for an obvious replacement such as hughton, who in reality, had only 1 and a bit seasons experience, with a team that only a complete muppet wouldnt have lead to promotion. i take back all i said about mackay not being as good as hughton, i hope the watford fans prove correct in the view he is on his way to the very top of the game.
Let's not be too quick to put DJ down - he did us proud in his 6 years and we owe him a lot. No matter what, I'll always be proud of Dave, and wish him nothing but the best in whatever he does in the future.
Must agree 100%, now it's up to Malky to take us that one step further, it isn’t going to be easy though. So let's give him time.
Well he is certainly making all the right noises, but as usual only time will tell, interesting to see that he has kept in touch with Bellamy, as an ex team mate...............Thank God they weren't golfing buddies
Why people keep going on about DJ and what he did wrong need to think about his record as our manager. He moved us forward year on year under difficult circumstances. His time may have come to leave but I will not have anything but thanks for DJ. He left us in a much better state than when he arrived. So a big thank you DJ and big welcome to Malky, please move us to the next level.
Was a very good interview. I am happy with his appointment, and I would have been happy with Hughton. Let's see how Malky sounds once the pressure mounts. I do think he will bring a breath of fresh air and new optimism to the club.
part of a managers ability is to effectively deal with the media and DJ was pretty crap with that lets be honest i hope MM does well he seems like a likeable sort of guy, the sort that you want to do well in football. as for hughton, if he picks up the brum job lets see how he does there, and judge at the end of the season whether the board got the right man
Not sure you can make that comparison Swamp, Brum have a full squad and have started buying before McLeish left where Malky has to build from scratch.
true, i agree that birmingham have more resources, and that out of the two jobs the cardiff one is certainly the harder one, but at the same time at least MM gets funds to immediately start building his own squad and bring in his own players instead of being stuck with a load of crap players like rae, taiwo etc who he could have been forced to work with
...........and don't forget, most decent managers these days are Jocks (Paul Lambert is a perfect example)
