Well if Enrique was too leave then I'd expect us too get someone better than Bertrand, but like you say Enrique needs competition so if he stays then Bertrand would be a good back up IMO. Don't think he'll cost that much either.
Wouldn't say no to that.. Bertrand and a fit Jose should give us a ample cover and competition for the LB slot. Flanno can play there too.. Question is, do we keep Johnson or look to replace him?
personally i would say replace him. unless he gets the wining goal that gets us the title, then maybe i will change my mind, i'm fickle like that lol
No thanks. As I said above, he's been no better than Flanagan this season so why waste money? Buy players for the first team and let them compete with Enrique for 1st team place. Best player gets it and then adds to squad depth. Flanagan then offers a youth back up.
Flanagan initially plays at RB, I'd prefer Flanagan too play at RB once Enrique is back as Johnson has been really poor this season. I think saying Flanagan has been better than Bertrand is pretty harsh seeing as he hasn't played an awful lot, Flanagan has played a lot more games than Ryan has. Think he'll be a good player for us, wouldn't pay anymore than £8m for him though and even still that's still quite a lot.
£8m?! I'd expect an International full back for that. Enrique cost us £6m, Baines cost Everton £6m, Evra was about £7m from what I remember. Azpilicueta cost Chelsea £7m.
The agent of Yevhen Konoplyanka sparked rumours that Liverpool were still interested in his client with a cryptic tweet on Thursday. Reports have emerged that Brendan Rodgers is still keen on the Dnipro wideman, with a fee of around £16m said to be being discussed. On Thursday, Konoplyanka's agent James Lippett tweeted: "En route to Liverpool". However, despite Lippett's trip to Merseyside, Mirror Sport understands that the five-time European Cup winners are not close to striking a deal to land the 24-year-old. The table-topping Reds travel to West Ham United this Sunday knowing six wins from their final half-dozen games will see them crowned Premier League champions. Liverpool and Manchester United are trying to persuade Ivan Rakitic that his future belongs in the Premier League, with his agent confirming that he has spoken to Real Madrid and also has an offer from Atletico for the Croatian international. Rakitic has amassed a long list of admirers on the continent with his performances for Sevilla this season, with Liverpool, United and previously Chelsea all watching him closely with a view to summer swoop. Sevilla have offered their club captain a new contract, with his present deal expiring at the end of next season, but Rakitic has stalled on signing fresh terms with the Europa League contenders to consider options elsewhere. The 26-year-old's brother and agent Dejan Rakitic spoke about his client's future on Cadena Cope radio yesterday, with Marca reporting that he revealed talks with Real Madrid general manager Jose Angel Sanchez and an official approach from Atletico. United and in particular Liverpool now face a race against time to lodge a formal offer with Sevilla for the dynamic central midfielder, as Rakitic fast approaches the final year of his contract with the Andalusians holding all the cards in terms of his future destination. Sevilla remain hopeful that they can persuade their star man to stay put beyond next season, although they will surely have to budge on a €33m release clause if they fail to reach an agreement at the close of the campaign, particularly with the World Cup looming large as another shop window for potential transfer suitors. ( Big release clause but would be worth it I think, in his prime for sure). Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette has opened the door to a move to the Premier League by suggesting that interest from Liverpool and Arsenal is genuine. The 22-year-old ace has been in excellent form this term for the Ligue 1 giants, netting 20 goals in all competitions despite his side's below par campaign. His displays have caught the eyes of some of Europe's top club teams, with Arsenal and Liverpool having both been credited with an interest in the versatile attacker. The Reds are thought to be particularly keen as Brendan Rodgers plots to further bolster his front line, while Arsene Wenger's Gunners are long-term admirers and known to have good contacts across the channel. Lacazette has previously suggested that he would be open to a big move, and has now added further fuel to the fire by hinting the English duo are looking at him: "I'm tempted to try and experience abroad at a big club," he is quoted by the Express. "Are Arsenal and Liverpool interested in me? I repeat that an experience in another major championship fascinates me. But for now I just think of doing well for Lyon, the club where I have grown up. "My contract expires in 2016, so we must see what the president [Jean-Michel] Aulas will say and decide." ( I like this one a lot too, he can play a variety of positions and is young but experienced. They play today against Juve for those looking to catch him in action).
Fair enough but can you see first team quality players being happy sitting on the bench game in game out?
All the teams in the CL have players that have to do that. You should have enough games to make sure everyone is getting games bt CL, FA, COC, and the league.
Not making it any better... Would like to have seen what his development would have been like under Rodgers, I guess we'll never know now! #thankswoy
http://www1.skysports.com/football/...-reina-unsure-of-future-when-napoli-loan-ends On-loan goalkeeper Pepe Reina has acknowledged that being at Napoli 'feels like home', but he remains unsure regarding his long-term future. Reina is spending the season at Napoli from Liverpool and the Serie A club's president Aurelio de Laurentiis confirmed earlier this week that he wants the Spain international to stay at the club next season. The 31-year-old still has two years to run on his contract at Anfield, but Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers recently suggested he is not expecting Reina to be with the club next term. Several clubs have been linked with a bid for the keeper and he is prepared to wait regarding a decision on where he will be playing after the summer. "I liked a lot what the president said and I'm happy for his praise," Reina told Radio Kiss Kiss. "Me and my family feel really good here in Naples. It feels like home. "Unfortunately at the end of the season I'll have to go back to Liverpool, but as long as I am here I will give my best for this shirt, for the club and the fans. "Then I will speak with Liverpool and we will try to find the best solution for everyone. Now, I only think about finishing as high as possible with Napoli." Napoli are currently trying to catch second-placed Roma in Serie A, with Rafael Benitez's side nine points adrift in the fight for automatic qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League group phase. However, whatever happens, Reina still believes it has been a positive campaign for Napoli, who are due to face Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia final at the start of May. Reina added: "Up until now, the season has been really positive. We have done really well. "We are in the Coppa Italia final, we were knocked out of the Champions League with 12 points, something that has never been seen before. The balance is positive until now. "It's a little difficult thinking about second place, but we won't give up. There are still possibilities." --------------------------------------------- Don't particularly like the bit in bold, think he's definitely going, especially when he says things like that.
was no need to say that bit really, looks like another player gone on bad terms, didn't he say he wanted to say bye to the fans, well after reading that don't think many fans will be impressed or care. also another point, what if he doesn't leave, not done himself any favours with his comments, i think he will be gone, but you never know.
well it was obvious before he left what occurred and i said so then. i aint surprised but am quite disappointed that a GREAT player was chucked and it came to this bad relationship.
From a Liverpool perspective, that bit isn't great but you have to remember he is talking about being at Napoli. He says unfortunately in that he will miss the Italian club rather than being resentful of having to come back to Liverpool.
