See the title. He's been one of England's U-21's best players when on. Stuart Pearce could be replaced by lemon.
To be fair, if I drafted my own first team, he wouldn't make the starting 11. Henderson has had a poor tournament but I've watched him a lot for Sunderland and there's no question he's better than Lansbury. Let's not hype Lansbury to be what he's not. I actually think even squad players like Cleverly as better prospects.
although i agree withmthierry, managers should pick teams based on form, and so henderson shouldn't be playing. however, he cost £20M and so Pearce is being like Capello and picking the "big names" in this U21 squad.
Lansbury offers a passing game that the others can't match. England needs to keep possession and needs some incisive passing. It doesn't matter if Cleverly is the better player overall, England needs Lansbury more.
he's on now. already done more in 10 mins than henderson all match. just had a belter of a shot after a lay-off from a free kick drift narrowly wide.
Muamba has the first touch of a hungover donkey and Henderson has been shocking this whole tournament. In a must win game Lansbury definitely should have started instead of one of them.
Stuart Pearce has a problem with Arsenal, always has. The way he treated Theo 2 years ago, and tried to treat Jack this season highlights this.
To be fair....... Had this team been available England would have done FAR better. -----------------------Fielding---------------------- Richards-----Jones-----------Smalling------Gibbs -----Henderson----Rodwell----Wilshere---------- Walcott-------------Carroll---------------Sturridge The fact of the matter is the best young English players are not interested in playing at u21 level.
Firstly... Gibbs was injured... can't play if you can't run... Wilshere pulled out because he just played 50 games in his first full season - he played more games and games at the highest level - than most other players in the premiership last year! And out of all those who played the game amount of games he covered ground during the season than ANY other player... I would consider these facts and think the boy deserves a well earned rest. And as for Walcott - his played 20 times for the U21's with 4 of those involving coming off the bench and hasn't been named in an U21 squad for almost 2 years and I don't think he played in any of the qualifying games and if memory serves me right - i don't actually think his played for the under 21's since the 2009 championship... Plus the fact that his 22 which means you would of had to drop one of mumba, fielding, sinclair or mancienne - who have ALL played a part in qualifying! So i think your points are completly invalid...
When you think about it and how englands under 21 are all great we should have won this but no the hyped up bubble around the team popped as always.
Decent squad player perhaps, seems to have a lot of energy which could be important for us. I do agree though that he is better suited to a lower premiership club.
That's always a good sign, unfortunately we have plans for this one. He may only be our rotation midfield at his peak, but that's a role we need filling. Still, perhaps could use a loan to you guys until January, if that would be a good solution.
