They paid £17m for him about three years ago. Considering the De Bruyne deal where they made a profit despite not playing him, I'd expect Chelsea to sell him for £35m somehow.
Shaw is very good going forward as well as solid defensively, he is definitely a better player than Davies. IMO, Shaw is the best LB we've had come through since Ashley Cole broke into the Arsenal team sixteen years ago!
Mourinho will sell him. Several reasons for that. Some have to do with the player's profile, some with their egos.
If Chelsea want to sell though, then I can't see many clubs stumping up £35m for him. Who'd be able to afford it? From the Prem, City, maybe United? Arsenal? Can't see Chelsea selling to a top 4 rival so that would leave United as the only option. Abroad, you'd have the usual lot (PG, Bayern, Real etc). Can't see any of them going for him though as they'd want more established players.
Fair point.. If Southampton sell, do you think we'd be able to get him? IF we win the league, that may help but even then I think he may opt for Chelsea or City. Best of the rest, young LBs that a Premiership tried and tested, for me is Davies/Bertrand Chelsea may not want to sell Bertrand to us...
Who saw them getting so much for De Bruyne? However, £35m was a piss take Can't see Lukaku playing for another top English side. Man City won't want him, same goes for us (more pressing matters to attend to) too and I don't see tottenahm spending the money or him wanting to join them permanently. Man Utd? If they got rid of RvP then maybe but not sure he and Rooney with Mata would work. Definitely a Moyes move then Arsenal? This is the best fit beyond Chelsea IMO. They both have very good creative player but lack that power and pace up top.
If they get the quality of player they're after, then I wouldn't be surprised to see them loan him out again..
Nope, can't see us getting him. Chelsea are in prime position if Mourinho want's him what with him being a fan and he'd be pretty much guaranteed a first team place with Cole going. Bertrand, not seen anything from him to suggest he'd be good enough. Davies I don't think offer enough in attack. Decent enough in defence and possibly as 2nd choice but he's ben no better than Flanagan this year who has been very good at LB this year. I guess it depends if we are looking at a first tea LB or a younger player who can develop with Enrique as 1st choice and Flanagan/new player competing for back up.
I think Shaw would be very very stupid to go to city or the chavs. He would never play, simple as that. I would like him, but I think he would be wise to go to utd, or us tbh, for his career.
You don't think he'd play for either of them? Chelsea don't have a LB apart from Cole who will be leaving. Azpilicueta (sp) is a RB so he'd certainly play there. Clichy & Kolarov have hardly been great and it doesn't seem either of them have nailed down that first team position by the fact they get rotated so often. City also need some English players to help with their home grown talent. For his career, I think he'd be best staying at Saints for another year at least. This is his first season in the Prem and he'd done very well, but a big money move after 1 year may be too much pressure. He'll be under pressure next year because of his performance this year but not as much. If he performs well next year he could have his pick of clubs in England the following summer.
If the chavs wouldn't play Bertrand, they won't play Shaw. They will get a big name player from abroad. City could play him, but they could also play Rodwell, Richards etc, but they don't. He would disappear if he goes there.
If we really wanted him then we'd be in with a shout but can't see us spending £20m+ on a LB. I think he'll go to Chelsea.
Man City have Clichy and Kolarov, Shaw wouldn't get a look in. I think Shaw would play at Chelsea. I think he is better than Bertrand and, more importantly should he buy him, so would Mourinho since he appears not to rate Ryan.
We're not that hard a sell are we? (shouldn't be). As a club we appear to be finally going places. We'll be in the CL next year We "MAY" be current league champions. We'll have a very young squad that, if added to correctly over the years could compete for honours for the next decade. A left hand side of Shaw and Sterling could be the main stay of Liverpool and England for years!
