  4. A purple patch is in reference to form. Form last a varying degree but often referred to as something between five and ten games. Sturridge has been scoring at a consistent rate since joining us in January 2013. Not sure thirty-eight games can be described as a purple patch

  13. Do it quite often. Number of times I've responded to something before reading the full comment to find they've said the same thing afterwards <laugh>

Got a bit of sympathy to Ba. He was at Newcastle and had a chance to move to a club that was challenging trophies. Can't blame him for making the move. We all may have thought he'd never be first choice but he obviously wanted to test himself and credit to him.

It's different when a player is 20 year old and goes to a "big" club on the back of 1 season then never plays (Rodwell, Sinclair) as it's poor management by their agent just seeing the $ signs. But when a player is in his prime and gets the chance, well why would they turn it down?

  16. I think age doesn't come into it. Ambition is ambition, if a player thinks they are good enough then they go for it and I don't blame them at all. The fact they get a wedge load of more cash isn't the point IMO

But a lot of the time, a young player would be better staying at their club for another couple of years and really establish themselves than going to a big club, be a bit part player then leave again 3 years later.

  18. Without doubt but then, do these players fear missing their opportunity? Maybe they like the idea of training with better facilities and players? Not every youngster moves on again within three years but it is a very high percentage.

what about Coates and Wilson, why did that happen, and look how its turned out, not good for either side, although they are getting/got a decent wage for contributing **** all.

True and don't disagree but my original point was that don't begrudge Ba his move to Chelsea as he was probably never going to get another chance to move to a club that was challenging in all comps in England. We all thought he wouldn't be first choice but he obviously wanted to test himself against the best and try and prove he can. Unfortunately for him it hasn't quite worked but fair play to him for giving it a go.
