    Taken from NUFC.com

A Newcastle United U15 squad are in Singapore to play in the six team Lion Cup Tournament but lost a thrilling opening tie 3-4 to a locally-based side on Saturday.

Goals from James Atkinson, Adam Armstrong and Alex Gilliead put United 3-1 up just after the hour mark, but Singapore pulled one back in the 86th minute and then unbelievably, two goals in added time won the game for the hosts.

NUFC starting XI: Sam Busby, James Morgan, Liam Gibson, Ben Drennan, Benjamin Askins, Greg Olley, Jordan Storey, Alex Gilliead, Adam Armstrong, Dean Briggs, Callum Roberts.

The young Magpies will hope to do better when they face Juventus on Monday, with the semis and final on June 24th & 26th respectively. Also competing are Everton, Brazilian club Flamengo and a second Singapore side. Matches are played in the Jalan Besar Stadium.

The youngsters are certainly getting around these day's. Travel broadens the mind so they say, and this can only be good for them. It'll probably give them more confidence and make them want to win more.

3-1 up, 4-3 down, something familiar about that.

Disappointed to concede 2 goals in injury time. Either they're heads dropped after they equalised or they went for the win and got hit on the counter, I hope it is the latter! Best of luck to them against Juve tonight!

Eurosport 2 UK (Sky Channel 411, Virgin 525) list delayed coverage of the Singapore game at 9am on Monday, followed by live transmission of the Juventus fixture at 1.45pm.

Will be seeing most of these lads in green and white come next decade. <ok>

Great that they're getting such an exotic experience.
