On Sky, Gary Birtles said he didn't know how Davies isn't in the England squad.

Chezzy. In CD's shadow but was excellent today.

Jelavic. Work rate and sheer desperation to get the ball is a pleasure to see. Touch is a bit **** at times mind.

Rosy. Well followed in and some excellent challenges. Some poor distribution too but can be forgiven for that.

Why is there no outrage for the steady flow of people now pointing out that Jelavic has donkey hooves instead of feet?

He's a funny one, play the ball in front of him, in front of goal, and Christ he'll bloody wallop the thing with good direction. Give him the ball anywhere else on the pitch, ask him to pass, cross, shoot after taking a touch, even just control the ball, then get your tin hat on because the bloody thing could end up anywhere.

Despite his atrocious ability to kick a football, were still very lucky to have him, his reading of the game, his movement and positional nous are first class and equal to anyone in the world, he's ALWAYS in the right place at the right time and it seems all at times all we have to do is whack the ball forwards from anywhere on the pitch, and if Jelavic doesn't get on the end of it he'll at least cause problems and win us a throw or something.

Agree that Jelavic is maybe not the most graceful of players, but he is big, strong and determined and as Brucie quite correctly said "a man".

He is the Ying to the Shane Long Yang.

Jelavic is our "nearly" man.He nearly scores with a header ,nearly scores with an outstretched leg nearly scores with a free kick and nearly scores from the penalty spot. He "nearly" should have scored at least 6 more goals than he has to date. But overall he nearly works himself to a standstill.

I would rather Nikica 'Nearly' Jelavic than Danny 'Never' Graham

    1) Niki Jelavic

    2) Liam Rosenoir

    3) James Chester

NB. Putting in Curtis Davies is far too easy these days. Our defence looked superb once again. Great practice for the next 2 away games. Shame that Woy likes his cullender boys.

Curtis Davies The best since the days of Pete Skipper and Stan McEwan and i incl. Turner in that. Would be great to get Turner back in the summer on a fat. What a great back 3 that would be for starters.

He is by no means alone. Woy is under grfeat pressure with many others now. Peter Crouch is another playing very well and only Rooney and Sturridge better. Hopoe that Ab Faye is fit and ready for Carroll and Crouch this week.

So then, how far ahead is Davies from the rest in the MOM table?

Will be on the Stoke thread in 10 minutes mate, though I think he'll have won it now with Livermore not getting any points recently.
