If Carroll gets a result for West Ham then they will have deserved it, because that will have meant our defence and attack would have both had to have seriously underperformed

He is useless, useless I say.

I'll stop if you explain to me which law of physics states that what we say on here can possibly in any way affect the outcome of a future football match by one single, solitary, sub-atomic particle. :)
Que sera, sera and all that.

Tbh, I don't think he is entirely useless, but I'm no more concerned about him than any of a number of strikers we might play against.

    the no jinx law <laugh>

i just feel we have been quite lucky with ex players not hurting us so far really, and don't want that to change any time soon.

I know what you mean, but like I said, if he does it'll have sod all to do with anything we say on here.

Don't believe in jinxes- if there are supernatural powers, I'm sure they've got far more important things to exercise their talents than tinkering with a bloody match.
If Donkey scores, it'll be because he's a striker and that's what they're for.

Well, Suarez has a big axe to grind as well (as he does every damn weekend). So, there, they even out.

But then, we also have Sturridge who has another axe to grind, as he's been feeling extra vexed and impish this week.

And Hendo... who saw Shweini get the type of goal he fancies

I agree. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with sakho replacing Agger on Sunday.

I don't get the vitriol towards Carroll on here. It started since he joined and obviously affected him on the pitch. He was a donkey for most of his time here but I'm probably the only supporter that doesn't seem to dislike the fella.

The 6 months before his departure he was seriously improving. He put in some fine performances and was actually learning to play with his feet. Whenever he played with the full A squad without Downing (the real donkey) he looked decent with his hold up play. He was not partying as much anymore. Perhaps under different circumstances he would have even come good.

He nearly won us the FA Cup by himself. Was he good enough for Liverpool? No. Should he have left? Yes. Did he have a say in his transfer fee? No. Did he publicly complain or trash the club after he left? Not that I know of. There are many other people I dislike more in football.

That being said he's not going to be that much of a threat to us if Downing is supplying the crosses <whistle>

id say the Toure error against the baggies is the worst one for me so far as far as dropped points go.

  14. I don't dislike him. Still think he would make a better CB than forward though.

I don't see that there's too much vitriol towards him, tbh. When he was with us I think most of us defended him against the predictable wum attacks from other fans.
Someone said they were afraid of him scoring against us because he would have a point to prove and we've taken it from there.
I've been calling him Donkey but that's just a mild piss-take (not to mention true), but I've nothing against the guy. I just don't think we should be fearing him any more than any other other striker out to put one past us.

    I feel indifferent to Carroll.

Hope he doesn't ruin the party but he will be looking to prove a point.

Not looking forward to the game. We'll be buzzing with confidence if we win it.

    Have I missed something?
Has some strange distortion in the space/time continuum mysteriously spirited the Hammers away and replaced them with Barcelona?
If not, why is everyone so fearful?
No disrespect to WHU, and we all know there are no safe games in the Prem, but they are a mid-table team, 10 places and 34 points behind us. We haven't lost a league game in 13, we have the most potent attack in the league and have scored over 50 more than our opponents.

Of course we should treat all opponents with respect, but when I read that people are worried about the game or not looking forward to it I'm genuinely baffled.

I can remember when Carroll was playing for Newcastle and destroyed Arsenal, so he has got the odd brilliant performance in him. Just hope he fails to produce one at the weekend
