Big Al would be more prepared for it than he was the last time and he wouldn't take any of the nonsense that Pards takes, and as one of us (a Geordie) he'd have the same passion as the fans.

Aye, forgot him. Always thought him and Beardsley may have ended up managing you lot one day.

Pedro would work well with Shearer, both passionate local lads who loved NUFC.

Shearer stated categorically he'd never return whilst Ashley was there, right? As did KK?

Beardsley commented how 'amazing' MA was towards the youth program. Given we're not Cat1 and have Armstrong, who genuinely looks the real deal (albeit for England u-17's and NUFC u-21's), Aarons, Satka, Kemen on the books, it's hard to argue.

Again, we shouldn't forget that as an Ashley employee, part of your contract stipulates that you should always be most gracious about the divine leader and it's probably right to draw parallels with Kim Jong-Il. But nice to hear.

Ashley's impossible to predict but does seem bipolar. I mean, you only have to look at the managerial sequence of KK (supporter vote winner) followed swiftly by Joe Kinnear (another poll winner) to see it. As it stands, there's a steady wave of hatred against Pardew building. Another hammering vs. Man U probably won't see the end of Alan, but I can easily see a completely left-field appointment happening. I think there's more chance of him appointing one of his own favourite players than there is seeing a Girard, Dyche or Pochettino turn up.

It would be a bad way to go IMO but if we were to appoint an ex player as manager then the only one that is remotely qualified is Beardsley. He knows our younger players well and has some match day experience when it comes to management (albeit only at youth level).

Pardew isn't going anywhere anyway, his aim was to achieve a top 10 finish which he's done. He'd certainly have a case for unfair dismissal and I think i'm right in thinking that Ashley wouldn't be able to use the head butt as reason to sack him as Pardew has already received disciplinary action for this and the club have stated that they've now drawn a line under that incident.

Job is DG's if he wants it.
The only thing that matters is his passport and it says his nationality is French.
Done and dusted, now all he needs is a French No.2.

I'm sure you're right. I read somewhere that he put the block on Frank Brennan opening a competing shop in Newcastle and then promptly sold him, or something along those lines.

Yes, a bit tough on Brennan who was only trying to secure his future.

The club does seem to perform better with a former player or fan as manager - save for the end of Iam McFaul's reign at the time of Hall's vicious takeover campaign in 1988.
Joe Harvey, KK and Bobby Robson are the only successful managers we've had at the club since the position was created (in the modern sense) in 1958. However, Arthur Cox, the next most successful, had no links with the club, nor Chris Hughton. The truly disastrous managers - Gullit, Dalgleish, Allardyce, and especially Souness and Gordon Lee/Richard Dinnis - were all 'outsiders'. It suggests that prior knowledge and understanding of the club and fans is a prerequisite of success - something Ashley would have done well to understand. Long term success, of course, depends on a settled, supportive and united boardroom, and this is something Newcastle United hasn't had for a century.

With regard to Ginola - who knows? A different era it may have been, but a lack of managerial experience didn't hinder KK. Either way, I can't see it happening; he is far too flamboyant and independent for Ashley. On the other hand, if he were to from a consortium to buy the club…...

Throw in McGarry (worst in my time by a country mile), Smith and Ardilles into that pot.

Cox and Hughton may be viewed as being successful, but, is that not just on short term basis and that in itself by gaining promotion from the 2nd tier.

With all the so called big name managers, we've had over the years, maybe its time to take another gamble in the KK mould.

We missed the boat with Martinez. We'd have a limited pool of managers that are both good enough and would want to join us.

Off the top of my head there is only Laudrup that is proven in the Prem and may actually want to come here. Some could argue Redknapp but he's a manager and not a head coach which is essentially what Pardew is. Redknapp would want too much input in to signings etc...and on top of that I simply don't rate him.

After that you're taking a punt on a Rosler, Karl Robinson, Lee Clark (personally I wouldn't touch Clark), Beardsley, Eddie Howe etc.

Pardew won't be going so it's basically a non starter but when you think about what/who we could realistically replace hime with we'd definitely be taking a risk. It's just whether such a risk outweighs the risk of keeping Pardew.

Does Lord E look in on the forum? He might not be very happy about that.
