Nicked from RTG. Fletcher £12m, Dozy £8m, Wickham £9m, Graham £5m, Giac £7m, Scoco £4m 45 Million quid. 45 f**king million and how many goals have they scored between them ? That is scary and makes me feel a bit sick tbh. We have some serious re-building to be done, again. Jesus, what I would give for some stability and mid table obscurity.
tbf Comm Scocco`s only been here 5 minutes. A bit early to class him as waste yet imo. Can`t blame Fletcher for being injured, hasn`t recovered and maybe never will. Can blame Graham, Altidore et al for being crap though. Maybe Short is correcting things with the new DOF and scouts. He tried it with Di Fanti and it didn`t work very well, (right idea, wrong bloke) now trying right idea, right bloke? Just a thought.
Niall Quinn was on the radio yesterday saying if we go down players wages will half. Probably what they should be on in the first ****ing place!
True, very true, Gonads seems to rate him, and that lad knows his onions, so hopefully he'll be right on this one. Fletcher, no idea what's up with him, he's like a knackered horse these days. The other 3 are just ****e.
Never properly recovered has he? In the few games he`s played he`s looked well out of sorts. I wonder if we`ve claimed for him the way the Mags did with Owen for the international injury, very similar situation.
****ing hell man. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/sunderland-afc/sunderland-boss-has-faith-in-scocco-1-6535433
Plus as ****e as they've looked, a reasonble fan realises the Jozy needs a bit longer, and that Wickham can still be developed (not happy with either before anyone starts with the boring Jozy/Connor tit for tat), Giacc has struggled with the pace and system, needs more time and fletch is been injured. In essence, only DG i'll write off from that list atm. Very few hit the ground running, a sobering fact of life in football.
Not so sure mate, rumours that most of the better one's are being released. Laing, time will tell. http://www.footballcourier.com/news...sunderland-hangs-in-the-balan/full_story.html
Not that I ever thought Frazer was the answer, but guess how many goals he has scored in the prem. that's right 7. I think it's the service which needs looking at as much as the strikers themselves. anyhow. get shot of the lot. bunch of koonts
In which case we'll find out that they're better Eiter way we'll find out next season, unless by some miracle we'll stay up (Sill hoping and praying)
If it is the championship, next season will be a big one for the likes of. Watmore, Ba,Karlsson, Mavrias Celustka etc.
They`re ones I was thinking of. Mandron aswell although I`ve lost track of him. Surely the only reason for bringing them into the academy is because they are better than what was there?
Let's not forget the amount of goals a fully fit Fletcher scores, he's had a nightmare season with injuries, but he deserves some grace, Scocco, £4million for an immensly talented footballer, we'd get that back right now if we put him on the market, so no concerns there. The rest, well, absolute scandal, Altidore, I dunno how loud I screamed on here before we signed him, how the club, anyone at the club, rubber stamped that deal is beyond me, he was worth a punt at £2-4million, but we doubled that, and personally, I can't help but think Ellis wanted a Yank here. We could have gone for the excellent Bradley for the same price, and had goals from midfield. Graham, well, he scored goals for Swansea, but he always missed 2 for every goal, again, I think there was universal opposition, yet again, the club went for it. Whickham, ****ing hell. I can't even put it into words. English football by nature & through history has bigged up 2.4 million 'next big things', most don't make it, so you wait a year or 2 and see. We didn't, we dived in, spent a third of that seasons budget on him, and that signing, for me, was when we started on the back foot. I don't blame Connor, but who the **** scouted a lad who simply cannot turn with a football, and thought he could play Premier League football? Whickhams attribute (sadly, just the one) is strength, and even then he does not use his bulk well, he doesn't counterbalance his weight and as such we have the 'inability to turn' issue as mentioned. He actually is a good finisher when playing on instinct, we've seen that in loan spells and for England U21's, but his lack of pace and poor positioning (he is NEVER on the end of a cross...) means that instinct is never applicable via top class defenders. Now, the damning thing really on the club, is strikers who have moved in the meantime, strikers we could have went for instead. QPR paid £8 million for Loic Remy Arsenal paid £9.6 million for Olivier Giroud Cardiff paid £2.2million for Odemwingie (I know he's since moved, but this is over the period...) Swansea paid £12 million for Wilfried Bony Hull paid £5.2 million for Shane Long Now... there's some perspective in there, all either good goalscorers, or genuinely top talented players. Where the **** where our scouts? Of course there's the supposed failure to match CSKA Moscow's £9million valuation for Seydou Doumbia as well, a player withh 99 goals in 133 games. Who makes these decisions?
The furthest Pop Robson got to continental cuisine is Irish stew and a kebab on his Holiday in Turkey. This is why I said a few months back that the Academy was being wasted, Pop couldn't be arsed to get out their and fill it with some decent kids and why we've brought nobody decent in for the first team. Then we reshape and bring in loads of overseas players who in my opinion were'n't even evaluated in regards to ability to adapt to the English game. It's been a shambles. You mention Giroud. Stinker of a first season, which is why Giacc and Jozy get a bit of breathing space from me. The problem for me isn't them but the fact they were signed in the first place.
