I've said for the last few months that we can win the champions league, why not, we're not expected to win it but we can give any team in the tournament a game as we did against Bayern Munich last night.

Got to agree Matth, you have indeed said a few months ago that Utd could win it.

anyone in doubt should remember the lols when you posted it, last nights lucky draw shows you could be correct.

Thing is matth the away leg, they have an abundance of players to cover for those banned, if Utd progress I promise to humbly bite the bullet and congratulate the foe.

With respect, matt, what's your point? In a normal season that would be a debate closer, but they are both hugely above you in the table this season. So how does your comment work?

 

Well Arsenal couldn't score a goal against us in 2 league games! But in all seriousness collateral form never works in football, you shouldn't read to much into our league position. We are a better side than our current league position would suggest. We've just had a bad time of things this season. But as Pep Guardiola has pointed out we have the players who are capable of rising to the big occasion. Chelsea and Liverpool have both won this with poor league form, so I wouldn't get to carried away with dismissing our chances based on league position

That was probably your best performance of the season - are you likely to replicate plus more again in the away leg. I highly doubt it, if you do then fair play. Can't see it though. Even if you do, you'll have to replicate it plus more 3 times. Which seems to me very very unlikely. But footballs a funny old game, so you never know.

I was watching that game last night and thought it was EXACTLY how Chelsea played against Barca and bayern. Not planned but rather 10 players forced back into the last 30 yards of pitch.

I think custardy can now finally drop the Routemaster claims, it was parked in Manchester last night.

You'll need a massive slice of luck to get either the win or 2 goal draw that you'll need to progress.

You've given yourselves an outside chance, but that's all it is imo.

 

I would think Bayern were pretty happy with an away 1 1 draw. Fergie would have considered that a good result if away to Bayern in a first leg and finish the job at home.

 

Going back to the old European cup that was always your scoreline of choice, get an away goal draw and then back pass them to death at home as 0-0 will suffice.

 

Man United may be able to defend to death and progress to the next round, but can you see them getting past us (Chelsea),PSG, Atletico or Real in the next round?
Bayern can sometimes have brain farts up front (see our final against them in 12)

It would just be great to get through this tie. If by some minor miracle we do get through, I'd personally hope to play your lot, though I reckon PSG will get past you guys easily. I don't see a lot of difference in both defences and midfield, but PSG have a massive edge with Ibra and Cavani. Those 2 players will take the chances when they come where as your strikers don't fill me with much confidence
