CITY TILL WE DIE – First General Meeting

The City Till We Die (CTWD) group invites all paid members to its First General Meeting. This meeting will be held prior to the Arsenal home game in central Hull, as follows:

    Date – Saturday 19th April 2014

    Time – 2:30pm to 4:00pm (match kick-off is at 5:30pm)

Location – Edwardian Suite, Royal Mercure Hotel, 170 Ferensway, Hull, HU1 3AF (adjacent to Hull Paragon railway station)

This First General Meeting will be a chance for members to contribute to the future direction of CTWD. Should CTWD become an independent supporters’ organisation, or remain a single-issue campaign group? Should we ask the Tigers Co-op formally if they would like to merge with CTWD and form a reinvigorated supporters' trust? Should we remain independent from Hull City, or should we seek a supporters' involvement in the running of the club? Should we arrange meetings and events that will allow members to get together?

As long as you are a paid-up member of CTWD and you bring your membership card (or wristband) on the day you will be welcome to join us at this meeting. We will also have limited facilities to sign up new members at the venue.

The purpose of the First General Meeting will be to elect people to officer posts and sub-groups that will form the CTWD Committee. These elections will allow CTWD to carry forward its work with a proper mandate from its membership. The majority of people involved in the name change campaign since September 2013 are stepping aside, so there are plenty of posts available for new people to put themselves forward for. We would like to ensure that the full range of supporters is represented within the officer posts and sub-groups, so we would really encourage everyone to get involved and help us ensure CTWD is made up of a diverse mix of people.

    INTERESTED IN A COMMITTEE POST?

As mentioned above, there are lots of important decisions that CTWD has yet to make. And by being on the CTWD Committee, you can help to influence the direction of the Group. You will need a bit of spare time, all the roles will require that. You will require some basic skills for some of the officer roles. But first and foremost, you will require enthusiasm to continue the work that has been started by CTWD to represent City fans in support of our club.

There will be seven officer posts elected, and you can nominate yourself for any of them. The officers will form the main body of the CTWD Committee and meet in Hull regularly (most probably once a month) to discuss and guide the work of CTWD on behalf of the members. Officers will be elected until Summer 2015. The posts are:

Chairman – responsible for co-ordinating officers, chairing meetings and leading strategy development. This officer will need planning and strategy development skills, as well as being able to motivate a team of people to work together towards common goals.
Secretarial Officer – responsible for ensuring that CTWD has all the necessary paperwork and constitutions in place in order to fulfil its roles in the future, as well as keeping records of all CTWD meetings and events and being a focal point for all formal CTWD postal and electronic correspondence, using CTWD agreed branding. An understanding of administration will be ideal for this officer, knowledge of requirements and legislation for trusts will be ideal.
Finance Officer – responsible for recording all financial transactions (such as membership fees, donations, merchandise orders/sales, etc), maintaining a bank account and providing regular financial statements to the CTWD membership. This officer will need good record keeping and numeracy skills, accountancy experience would be ideal but not necessary.

Membership Officer – responsible for processing memberships, collecting subscriptions, reconciling monies with the Finance Officer, ordering and distributing membership cards and wristbands. This officer will be a good organiser and able to keep accurate records, as well as having the time available to post out membership packs.

Communications Officer – responsible for the dissemination of CTWD’s key messages via TV and radio, print media, the website and social media, as well as developing a brand design guide for all communications. This officer will need good knowledge of all communications media including social media, and will need a flair for writing and presenting the views of CTWD to the public and, on occasions, the press and media.

Merchandise and Events Officer – responsible for ordering and distributing the CTWD merchandise available on the webshop, as well as planning and delivering a series of events of interest to CTWD members. These events may include matchday events and gatherings, social events, launch events, etc. This officer will need good organisational skills and the time available to plan and delegate merchandise tasks to the sub-group, and execute a planned schedule of meetings throughout the football season.

Technical Officer - responsible for developing and maintaining the CTWD website, webshop and provide technical support to the committee (email addresses, equipment for meetings, etc). This post would be ideal for someone with IT and website creation skills.

ABLE TO COMMIT A BIT LESS TIME? HOW ABOUT A SUB-GROUP POST?

There will also be up to nine people elected to CTWD Committee sub-groups. These sub-groups will work with officers to develop CTWD’s strategy in its most important areas of work. These sub-groups are:

Strategy Sub-Group (up to 3 posts) – responsible for the development of CTWD’s short and long term strategy in relation to its campaigns, including the consideration of forming a revamped Supporters’ Trust for Hull City, as well as overseeing the use of CTWD’s finances. The Chairman, Secretarial and Finance Officers will join this sub-group.

Administration Sub-Group (up to 3 posts) – responsible for guiding and delivering the administration of CTWD, including membership records, membership packs, arranging and recording meetings, etc. The Membership, Technology and Secretarial Officers will join this sub-group.

Communications, Merchandise and Events Sub-Group (up to 3 posts) – responsible for delivering CTWD’s messages through all media (TV, radio, print, social), merchandise and events, with the joint and co-ordinated purpose of raising the profile of CTWD's strategies and providing benefits to its members. The Communication and Events Officers will join this sub-group.

Sub-groups will meet as regularly as is required. Sub-group members will also be invited to CTWD Committee meetings, contribute to discussions and vote on most day to day issues (certain constitutional matters will be voted on by the Officer Committee alone).

STILL INTERESTED? HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

Any member can nominate themselves for a CTWD Committee post. The form can be downloaded from here, the deadline for nominations is Thursday 17th April 2014 (two days before the meeting). The nominations should be emailed to [email protected]. Yon also use this email address for any questions you may have about the Committee posts and work.

You can nominate yourself for more than one post if you wish. Please put your name and address on the form along with a short statement introducing yourself and your suitability for the post. You can then either read out your statement at the meeting, or it will be read out for you if you can’t attend.

Where there is more than one nomination for each officer post, and more than three nominations for sub-group posts, a vote of all members present at the FGM will be conducted. The person(s) with the most votes will be elected. If the vote is a draw, the chairman will use a casting vote to decide who is elected. If there is a draw in the vote for the chairman’s post, the candidates will discuss and agree between them who should assume the post.

We look forward to seeing as many members as possible at the First General Meeting, as getting lots of new people involved on the CTWD Committee will ensure the progress that CTWD has already delivered since forming in September 2013, will be continued for many years to come.

Why is this even needed if the FA dismiss the request?

Did you even begin to read it? First para:

    Hang on.
I first checked the date. Too late for an April fool.
    Where to start? How about:
    - CTWD suppossedly prides itself on being a 'single issue' movement (even though in truth it seemed that the vast, vast majority don't buy into that fundamental principle).
    - on top of that, the post starts off by suppossedly innoncently posing fundamental questions about whether CTWD should come to it's natural end (as of course it should), or continue with other agendas. But then follows with comprehensive detail about posts needed and available for it to achieve whatever. Ending with '.... will ensure the progress that CTWD has already delivered since forming in September 2013, will be continued for many years to come'.

CTWD surely has to remain a single issue body. If a(nother) supporters group is needed then form one, but not from what would be the continuing life of CTWD. In my opinion, doing that would be a major mistake. The support is already split like never before, and do you really think CTWD in a new guise will develop needed positive relationships with the range of key stakeholders, not least the owners? Come on.

It must be a late April fool?

We hope that by the date of this meeting, the single issue we have campaigned on will be over, it is then for it's members to decide if it should develop into something else or not. As you're not a member, it's irrelevant to you.

Wow who saw this coming? CTWD not a single issue group?? lol

Driff's right too, talk about a loaded FGM with an obvious, preordained outcome from it too. At least the Allams were honest about the basis of their poll, you lot are pretending to "ask your members what they think" while forging ahead and doing it anyhow. Why pretend to discuss and decide on something you're already planning for? You think no one will notice, or mention you're just paying lip service to it?

    Any guest speakers btw?

Right, serious face for a sec here...

I, like many others, would happily support a properly set up Supporters Group. However, none of us would ever have anything to do with CTWD. We simply do not trust CTWD, and any decisions made to base a supporters group on CTWD will ultimately fail, or at the very least lose out on a lot of support due to the bad feeling towards CTWD.

You're City Til You Die, the name change was rejected by the powers that be, so you'll still be City Til You Die, maybe a better approach would be to let CTWD just...fade away. No one at the club will have anything to do with CTWD, so where is the logic in continuing with it? Fresh start, clean sheet, do something positive for a change.

Something you should think about, but won't.

<laugh> More conspiracy theory bollocks, did you even read the ****ing thing?

Most of the current CTWD committee are stepping down, as they were only interested in a name change campaign, it's now for the members to decide what they want to happen with the organisation. Anyone member can stand for office, all planning by CTWD was stopped at our last meeting early last month, as it's now for the new officers to decide what will happen in the future. If it merges with the co-op, then it will be a new organisation and it almost certainly won't be called CTWD, though that's for the new committee to decide.

Oh right sorry, so you won't be trying to engage with all fans to form a supporters group after all? Maybe you should make it clear that anyone who isn't a member is irrelevant.

If CTWD morphs into a supporters trust then in my opinion that was part of the plan all along .

    as Tickles would say TWT.

I think CTWD should be an exclusive members club available to only those who attended in the fourth tier.

Can I put that proposal forward?

Erm....it was announced as a long term aim months ago, so it obviously was.

The biggest issue for a trust and the thing that has become very apparent since our initial announcement of a long term aim of forming one, is that AA doesn't really give a **** about the fans and he's almost impossible to work with. One of the reasons so many of the existing committee are standing down, is that they see little prospect of a trust achieving anything in the short term, maybe if Ehab was at the helm that might change, but it's going to take a hell of a lot of work to come up with a proposition that they would find interesting. If people think they're up to that task, then now is their opportunity to come forward and take up the mantle.

****'s sake, there are some right ****s on here sometimes.

    Read the ****ing post.

It says members will be ASKED for OPINIONS on what direction, IF ANY, the CTWD group should take going forward. It mentions ASKING the Tiger Co-op if a merger would be desirable/etc.

    It's called democracy.

    Jesus.

    No no, it's not democracy.

It's like polling Russia's politicians about what should happen with that Ukraine rubbish. If it was a democracy they would poll all season ticket holders like Dr. Allam has done and offer to disband if the vote goes against them.

    But I don't think they're brave enough.
