From what I remember he has a tendancy to fall out with his best players. He's either a good hit or an horrendous miss, usually starting badly. Looking at Levy's propensity for sacking managers I'll be surprised if he sees more than 18 months.
At Ajax he won the UEFA Cup in his first season and finished second. At Barcelona he won the league, Copa Del Rey and UEFA Super Cup in his first season. At AZ he finished second in his first season. At Bayern he did the double in his first season. If these are bad starts then I really hope he has a bad start with us
He'd could have a "bad" start, something like finishing 5th, getting to 3 cup finals and playing super awesome exciting football then get fired for not finishing 4th or winning a cup.
Levy hasn't sacked anyone for not winning trophies or not finishing top 4 in their first season. You might think he's bad but it's more Abramovich's style to sack after one season without a trophy... or 4 months after winning the best compeition in the World.
Levy sticks the knife in when there is the slightest hint that his manager has lost it but has yet to hit rock bottom with results.
i know, i was being sarcastic because Levy is a nutcase. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't sack a manager for a first season like that
Only Arry has broke the Levy sacking pattern. And that one may have had much more to do with Uncle Joe.
You mean the season we finished 5th while in the CL? Levy would have been lynched if he'd sacked him after we entertained the world like we did in the CL
"You mean the season we finished 5th while in the CL?" I mean 2012. The overall on-pitch performance that season was not the sole justification for Arry getting the boot (appalling as the final third collapse was) , unlike those before and after him. "Levy would have been lynched if he'd sacked him after we entertained the world like we did in the CL" That is more Chelsky-esque. Spurs would have to win serious silverware for ENIC to get into that mindset.
Interesting, if true. It would appear that, unsurprisingly, there's trouble at t' mill.... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...d-second-inquest-in-the-space-of-a-month.html
Holland manager Louis van Gaal is said to be willing to work with the current Tottenham squad should he be appointed as Spurs' manager in the summer. (Source: Independent) Well, that's a ****ing relief! For a minute, there, I thought Levy would have to go out and spend £200 million on buying an entire new squad of players!
Talk in The Fail is that there's unrest at Real Madrid if they fail to win the league and Ancelotti will get the boot. Levy is apparently monitoring the situation... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2593760/Tottenham-plot-fire-Real-Madrid-boss-Ancelotti-Sherwood-axed.html Well here's the thing... I would be extremely excited if this were the case (as it's most likely bollocks) and there was any chance of getting Carlo to manage us as I'd take him over Van Gaal any day, considering Ancelotti knows the league and has had success here. He also wouldn't use us as a stepping stone as he's already managed Chelsea so he may see us as a project. However, I can't bring myself to get excited about new managers or potential suitors anymore because I've reached the stage where I know full well that we could get the best guy out there but tight wad Levy won't back him fully, will disregard all of his targets and buy cheap ****e instead. Then when it doesn't go well, he'll be the scapegoat and be fired. So frankly, whichever manager we get makes little difference in my opinion. A fish rots from the head and that fish is still bleedin' rotting.
Bold statement there mate. Think both are superb managers and while Ancelotti has Prem experience to his advantage, van Gaal is a "total football" manager who'd possibly get this Spurs team playing like we expect/ hope they can. There's a picture on Twitter which shows a mixed XI of players that van Gaal had given debuts too in his time at their respective clubs, if true, it's unbelievable: Valdes Reiziger, Puyol, Badstuber, Alaba Davids Lens, Seedorf, Xavi, Iniesta Kluivert The man has an eye for talent and I think his footballing philosophy would suit us slightly better than Carlo, though don't get me wrong, both are born winners and some of the best managers to grace this game, if we ended up with either one it'd be an exciting acquisition for the club. Think calling Levy a tight wad is a bit harsh, our past 2 managers have both had well over £100m+ spent on transfers (Ramos couldn't have had far off either) and while a lot of the money has come from generated player sales, Levy didn't have to sanction such money for purchases if he didn't want too, it could've been re-invested in other areas or go in the pockets of his and the board. If there's one thing I love about Levy it's that financially he's superb, he's made our club stable and fighting for CL places which is where I'd like to think we "belong" right now, his footballing decisions are what lets us down but there aren't many Chairman I'd want over him if I'm honest.
Ancelotti or Van Gaal, they are IMHO in "pension" mode and are not going to come cheap. The only question is whether Levy would do his usual sackings at the first moment of on-pitch rubbish, if the manager is of this calibre. Perhaps it needs such a manager to come in and do a "WTF are you to tell me" to Levy (one thing that Arrys' CV sadly could never allow him to do) .
According to yesterday's Standard, the only player we signed in the last 18 months that Sherwood wants to keep hold of is Eriksen: http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...es-if-he-takes-over-at-tottenham-9227372.html Frankly, the choices seem to be: i.) Keep the current coaching set-up but overhaul the squad (again) ii.) Keep the current squad but overhaul the coaching set-up (at long last) Talk about a no-brainer.
I like this bit Daley Blind? Is that the name of the newspaper? Strikes me as a bullshit story, LVG is happy with the Spurs squad? Really he knows it that well does he. Sherwood wants all our new signings except Eriksen sold? This just does not ring true to me. Daily Blind it is then.
