When he does come back I think it's worth playing him alongside Zamora. I think Zamora is on decent form and also he can do a bit of the donkey work and take the heat off Austin.

I really think he made a contribution on Saturday. Not so much as a strike force but he got stuck in and gave trouble to their defence. He got the ball moving around and made several good passes at important time. He had improved with holding up the ball. He should have launched when a good chance came up. I think some people will always see his performances as terrible until he has an amazing one and scores a brace in the process.

Put it this way, he does a lot more than Doyle huff and puff was doing.

    We'll agree to differ mate.

I thought he was terrible on Saturday. He played a couple of easy balls out to the wing and spent the rest of his time wrestling with the centre halves and winning nothing. Maiga won about 4 headers in his time on the pitch.......4 more than BZ.

I agree with your logic, in easing the load on Charlie, having a second forward alongside him, but we also have to play Morrison.

Problem is our central midfield, with that front 3, would necessitate a very strong central midfield paring.

Could Joey and LTC really hold the fort against a rampant Derby or Wigan midfield in the playoffs ?

    For the play offs:

    -------------------------Green------------------------
    Simpson----------Onuoha-----------Hill------------Yun
    -------------------Barton------Jenas------------------
    Hoilett-----------------Morrison-----------------Traore
    -------------------------Austin-----------------------

That's a side that should be more than capable of doing the business in the play offs.....

I agree KPD. Our midfield has been sh*t all season. The only way we could win consistently at the start of the season was by putting an extra man in there and heaping all of the forward's pressure on Austin. Its not the way we'd want it but because the midfield can't hold their own, its the only option really.

We won't be able to play both Zamora and Morrisson.

COL's team looks decent but again, its the central pairing. With an attacking line up like that, we could get overrun through the middle. Neither Barton or Jenas are sitting players. I suppose we could just go all out and try outscore the opposition whilst leaving ourselves exposed like we did at home to Burnley, but its a risky strategy. I can see Redknapp going cautious and going back to what worked for him before Christmas by putting Henry in there and sacrificing most of our attacking threat.

I'd love to have a nice balance between the two but alas its seemed impossible all season long with this particular squad of players.

I like the shape of this team. I know you don't like Kranscjar but reasonably fit I'd like him in the mainly central midfield role as he is central to our creative play, with Morrison and Hoillet each side of him, all 3 interchanging positions a lot. I don't see a need for 2 out and out wide men in both Hoillet and Traore. It's a bit of a toss up for me between Jenas, Carroll and Henry for that role alongside Barton, and Yun and BAE - Yun was great in the 1 game I saw him play 90, but I'd like to see him a bit more.
