Watched bits of the first half and whole of the 2nd half. Mulumbu looked like Djimi Traore in centre midfield, absolutely no control of the ball. Henderson was actually looking to give it and go but his passing wasn't great and he looked lost playing so deep. Welbeck's goal covers up the fact him and Sturridge had little to no movement, and basically none of the team could pass the ball to a man. Was really poor, like so poor that it clearly doesn't just reflect the ability of the players, as they all play much better than that week in week out. Thing is though because Henderson now plays for us he's suddenly the root of all evil. Some comaprisons: Phil Jones cost Utd about £16mil (add-ons taking it up to +£20mil) Henderson cost us about £16mil (add ons taking it up to +£20mil) Yet... Henderson is reported as costing £20mil Jones is reported as costing £16mil. Jones has been launching it out of defence, but is a 'ball-playing centreback' Henderson plays some stray passes and sums up England's terrible performance Jones plays less then a season of Prem football and is a canny investment Henderson has 2 full seasons of Prem football (and a full England cap) and is a gamble I think Jones will be a good player, but that's just to highlight the kind of opinions Kenny has been starting to change since he took over, and i'm trying my best not to claim it's all a conspiracy, but people have been very keen to stick the boot into us since Rafa started kicking ass.
Henderson was bought by LFC based upon the potential that they have identified. It is ONLY by his development with LFC that anybody can confirm that his development has been sufficient or that his purchase was value for money. All else is just stupid speculation.
Anybody who judges a player based on a few international games should stick to console games, if their thumbs have developed enough.
i suppose the only thing with jones is that as a CB, whilst it is as tough as midfield, he isn't expected to 'change the game' as much as a midfielder. an average performance from jones with a few decent tackles and no big mistakes is ok but maybe for henderson, an average performance where he doesn't make that incisive pass/cross is maybe seen as much worse.. maybe that is why he is seen as more of a gamble? looking forward to his development though
Yeah that's a fair point. I wasn't giving Jones stick by the way, just showing by comparison how people seem to have it in for Henderson from the start. People seem to be personally committed to how Jordan Henderson does.
dont support either team but saw Henderson play twice live last year......... Awful...........................Many Sunderland fans did not even want him playing, and have another youngster who they preffered to be playing... he may have 'Potential' though

I watched every England game and I thought they were awful as a team in every game. While Henderson was pretty poor I would'nt judge him on them preformance's because he is being played out of position in a poor team, and being managed by a poor manager. No better manager's out there to develop young player's than Kenny and Ferguson so I can only see both of them(Jones and Henderson) improving.
