bit depressing we go from 30 mill euros and £37 mill priced players to the next lot of £15 mill and £8 mill lol its like some believe we will splash the cash on players and some think we still will be looking for bargain type players.
I think our existing transfer policy is the best way. We've been targeting players like Costa, Mkhitarayan, Willian, Konoplyanka - these would have cost around the £20m+ which should be our ceiling. I don't want us to be paying over £30m for a player. Now that we practically have qualified for CL, we don't need to find the bargain basements like Aspas etc. We can now target more players like Sakho at the £15m mark.
I see Wilfred (lock up your daughters) Zaha could be on the move for £5m. I wonder if this is the same player Utd fans were drooling over when they signed him. I think we were interested in him at one time. Dodged a bullet there I think.
That was bacon faces departing gift to Moyes. A **** footballer who is gonna tear the new managers daughter apart.
Liverpool are planning an audacious £25million move for Real Madrid left back Marcelo in the summer, reports talkSPORT. The Premier League leaders are eyeing elite signings as they prepare for life back in next season's Champions League, and reports in Spain suggest Brendan Rodgers has his eye on the Brazilian left back. Marcelo has been a key first team player at the Bernabeu since joining from Fluminense in 2007, however some reports have suggested Carlo Ancelotti wants to complete the free signing of Ashley Cole from Chelsea this summer. That could see Real decide to cash in on the 25-year-old, who has just one year remaining on his contract, and may well find an offer of £25million too good to turn down. However, youngster Jon Flanagan has impressed everyone at Anfield with his performances over the season, although he is considered a natural right back. Marcelo - who started his career as a left winger - has amassed over 200 appearances for Real Madrid. Swiss international Josip Drmic has scored 16 goals this season and both Arsenaland Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing him. According to The Mirror, Arsenal reportedly remain locked in a battle with both Liverpool and Everton, as well as Bundesliga sides Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen. Drmic, a versatile forward who can play through the middle or out wide, is a player in demand after his brilliant first season in the Bundesliga. The 21-year-old has caught the eye of top clubs after emerging as Nurnberg's most important player during his first season in the senior side. Signed from FC Zurich after scoring a plethora of goals in the Swiss league, Drmic has racked up 16 strikes (Only Bayern Munich's Mario Mandzukic has scored more goals than Drmic) in 27 Bundesliga games for a team that is currently one place outside the relegation zone. Arsenal, meanwhile, need an out-and-out goalscorer, something that isn't offered by Olivier Giroud, Yaya Sanogo and Nicklas Bendtner. And Brendan Rodgers may see the player's versatility as primary criteria for selection, as the former Swansea boss looking to sculpt the squad according to his own taste. Drmic will hope to impress his potential suitors when he lines up for Switzerland at this summer's World Cup.
£25m for a Left back who has 1 year left on his contract? Do they think we have Comolli in charge of negotiations again?! See we might have to pay Pompey £1m if we win the league as part of the Johnson transfer. £1m to them would go a long way considering they may well drop into the conference next year!
I don't think winning the league or getting CL football will make too much difference to the budget. FSG want sustainability so won't commit on a one off season.
How ever much BR wants in order to strengthen the squad (within reason). I just hope that if it were to happen, that the owner think our squad is good enough and doesn't let BR strengthen the 1st team and the squad depth.
That's a good point, I can see us selling a few people as well, maybe spend about £50 -£60M? £15- £20m of which will be player sales.
The thing that concerns me if we win the league is Suarez, will he have anything to stay for if a big European club that will offer him the chance to win the CL and another league title in another country come calling?
I meant that he would have achieved the highest honour in this country so if an offer was on the table...
Surely if we can manage too win the PL then he'd like too stay at least for another season too see how we cope in the CL.
I know you should take it with a pinch of salt, but he's been saying how he wants to play in the CL at Anfield. I reckon we'd get 1 more season out of him and he then may well be off. Unless we put in a really good challenge in the league again next year and do well in the CL (get into QF's for example).
I'm not saying I think he will **** off, I don't although that's more to do with me thinking no will pay what we want for him. What I mean is Suarez isn't your run of the mill player and it wouldn't surprise me if he pointed at this season and said "look at what I've just given you, let me go". He did say he wanted to play for Real or Barca before he retired when he joined us. I actually think he will still be a Liverpool player come 1 September.
Can't see Barce coming in for him, Real possibly, tbh I reckon Bayern are crying out for a player like him. Hope he stays with us though, he's something special
