I was thinking earlier, back to Poyet's first game in charge. I just wanted the season to end because all I could see was doom ahead. But since then . We've beaten Man City . . . . Beaten the mags 3-0 in their back yard AGAIN! . Got to wembley . Went ahead and played brilliantly at Wembley Point is, even though it seems we are doomed to go down, I'll always have fond memories of this season. The win on penalties at OT was just ****ing brilliant All this after we didn't win a league game in our first 7 attempts Not bad
It's a strange one mate, beat those ****s twice, got to a final, a 1/4 final, yet still ****ed. I don't know about yourself, i'm resigned (already i know, what a ****) that it's the championship next season. Not happy, just accepted it, now cool with it. Maybe sometimes you need a step back, to look forward.
I am also resigned to going down, hopefully this will be what it takes for us to sort ourselves out. Get rid of the rotten players. Build a team, a team with a clear strength. If all goes well we'll come back stronger, and instead of fighting relegation every year push for Europe. I can dream!
all about opinions mine is stick your final and the derby games survival is/was my preference and to remain a prem side at the end of this season, just to win 7 home games until last night would have done for me.
That's something I don't get. What fun is it staying up every year by the skin of our teeth. Eventually you'll go down, this is the year we go down. Like comm said "Maybe sometimes you need a step back, to look forward." If we managed to scrape survival this year would it have been different next year? It hasn't been for as long as we've been in the division
With the clear out of players mentioned and a new playing staff picked and coached by poyet ,do you expect to gain promotion in how many years ? its not a easy thing to gain straight away ,even harder with a new team its not like having a basic prem team kept together to gain the objective,so yes i would gladly accept the scraping in at the end option rather than just missing out option. Lets face it how many fans have been around long enough to remember any thing different at sunderland. Relegation does nobody any good in the short or long term if so please tell me who has .
Southampton & Newcastle have both gone down and come back better for it. Particularly Southampton. We'll spend 3 seasons max away from the prem imo, and when we come back we'll have a team and a squad to suit Poyet's style.
common sense thats what ,in that three years another prem club will have moved for him ,now dont tell me he wont take the job as he loves sunderland that much,i dont think so,all managers want the prem.
Like it or lump it Gus has not proven himself as a Prem manager. His experiences has been gained outside it and he has had 3/4 of a season to prove his credentials to be at the top. He will need to show that he can assemble a team, either through signings or development to gain promotion quickly,QPR have that history and their best chance is through the playoffs. .
