Kind of on your topic, kind of not. Anyone had mouth surgery ( not wisdom teeth pulled) ? Going to be out of action late April. Not looking forward to that liquid diet.

Why do I not do the bad teeth jokes? well I has them and am missng one! <laugh>

So with the missing one I am getting an implant ( Screw in the gum to mimic a bone, then attach the tooth later) BUT one of my front teeth is loose from footy as well so having that one pulled and an implant done. The way the doc descibred it, I will look like Predator for about 2 hours. 8 month healing process. They also have to take tissue from the back of my mouth to help create a membrane in that space too so I will be ****ing sore.

The boys at coaching better listen upon my return! <laugh>

*knock on wood* I have been very lucky in my playing career. Broken fingers, wrist, nose, jaw, toes and the occasional muscle strain but nothing too crazy.

    Dentists <yikes>

Clean bill of health here (fingers crossed) never even had a filling, remember kids to brush those pearly whites at least twice a day.

The doc/dental surgeon when doing the consultation was a cool dude and laid back for the most part but was pretty detailed with what he was going to do. " Open that area up nice and wide and really make sure we do it right" Sounds like something I would say to the wife ( mrs. not married) not to a guy I'm going to be slicing up in a few weeks. lol.

I am good there, only ever had 1 cavity. Just finally deciding to fix this lack of tooth ( had a retainer/bridge I wear that has a tooth on it to cover) and unfortunately have to get two since one of my front teeth is not rooted right due to footy ( over the years with elbows, kicked in the face, etc).

My main sports injury problems have been with my right ankle, I have gone over and twisted/sprained that to various degrees of severity many times. I used to play a bit of hockey (field) and had a friend who managed to knock his front tooth out with the top end of his stick, somehow, pretty difficult move to do. Then got another pal who got hit in the face by a squash racket, broken and busted nose plus lost tooth which he had replaced or put back in, said that the dental work wasn't too bad.

I know it will be sore, I think with the mouth it is you can't really eat or drink that much that day due to anesthesia and the healing part. That will be the part that sucks! Sitting around and I can't eat 3 cheeseburgers, 2 large fries, 5 hot dogs, and a bucket of ice cream!

  14. Yep, happy its my spare arm. Doesn't effect work too much has a am very much right handed and obviously doesn't effect my legs so I can still play football too. My chairman (volunteer and does it because he loves community work) has just announced he will be stepping down after many years due to ill health. I could see he was gutted when he was telling me, not to mention when I witnessed him telling everyone else. All I could think of was "that's how I'm going to be when I have to stop playing football".

I have three back bottom row teeth missing (two on one side, one the other) due to an abscess when I was about seventeen. I can still chew a steak so never really given a **** <laugh>

A few weeks ago at footy (Sundays), a mate went for a header whilst another mate went for the same ball but with a overhead kick. Inevitably, the kick connected with the face and result in not only knocking a front tooth out but also loosened a couple of others. He didn't have the best teeth in the world to start with. After visiting the dentist, they decided to take the lot out and put implants in instead. He has a cracking set of knashers now <laugh>

Yeah not good, Ive not got to the stage yet of totally giving up hope of playing again but it is a worry with how awkward and painful the leg is

  16. The pain will never go away. Mine still hurts two years on and when I catch it at footy I have to "count to ten" otherwise I'll hurt someone via being too aggressive. Ironically, that's how I broke it in the first place <laugh>
