Rumour has it, rightly or wrongly, that as part of his Summer clear out Moyes is letting Nick Powell go on a permanent transfer for what they paid, c£5m. I recollect that Brucey was interested last January so may have some legs.
I think the chances of us spending £5m on someone who's has almost no Premier League experience, are just shy of zero.
Young, English, type of player we could do with to replace Koren. I would. £5m is a tad steep though.
I believe that around £2m was upfront with the rest based on performances, goals etc which could stack up.
If we stay up and Sunderland go down, it's a shame we wouldn't be able to afford or compete with teams around us for Adam Johnson's signature - that would be a 'next level' signing.
Would be more interested in Zaha, despite him doing sod all at Cardiff this year, he has at least had one really good champ season, Powell's not really done anything at any level yet has he? Or has he?
Thats the trouble with young talent nowadays (medias fault) half a good season in the championship and there the next best thing since sliced bread and worth millions. I am sure Luke Shaw will go on to bigger and better things but the prices bandied about for him are ridiculous.
I think Shaw for 20m is about fair, he's clearly a remarkable talent. Outshining most PL wingers at age 18... Him and Barkley are our brightest prospects since Walcott and Wilshere.
Powell should go to a team with a proven record of bringing through young English talent. Now who fits that bill?
Shaw has to perform consistently though to be worth £20million ? . And I mean over 2/3 seasons in the top flight. Reputations are built over to short a period of time.
Both posts have merit. Moyes is having a 12 player clearout. I am sure that Steve Bruce will already have his summer shopping list sorted. Europa league football will not hurt our chances either. Powell has that experience already. Sure you are. But you will only get what others dont want. Maybe someone within the relegated PL teams you can get ?
If we sign Livermore we stay where we are based on no other signings. If we sign Livermore we'd need to bring in other players to improve the squad too which is a double whammy. Alternatively we look for an improvement in Livermore For improvements we need to look at the left back situation. i doubt we'd move Figueroa on, so that means we have to shift Dudgeon and buy someone to compete with Figueroa. We also need a little more depth at the back. Faye will go and will need replacing, either with a squad player of someone to directly compete with Chester and Davies Also likely we will need another GK - is Harper just one the one year deal? Additionally, I'd look to move Fryatt and Sagbo on and look to get someone in to be a direct competition to Long and Jelavic. Every player needs someone to push them to do that little bit more.
