As you know jb Thatcher's press started the vilification of the city due to its politics and the terrible night at heysel was meat and drink to them, it was always going to take a long time to gain positive press after those years but where the line was drawn was the was the smear campaign in the aftermath of Hillsborough. They should have realised that if you knock a scouser down hell keep getting back up and give it another go until its impossible, just as the new inquests show unity is strength.
The self-pity city image is old and past it's sell by date now. Scousers out grew that a few decades ago, it's well shaken off as far as I'm concerned and we're not standing still while others try to throw the mantle back on. It does a disservice when real injustices like Hillsborough arise.
Doesn't matter if you're actually from the city or not either, we still get the **** from opposition fans and it still gets the blood boiling when certain comments are made. What annoys me most is when a poster calls me a glory fan / plastic but then the same poster also calls associates me with typical traits of genuine (by which, I mean from the city) scousers. Nothing wrong with being a scouser at all, why would there be. Its the hypocrisy that annoys me but then, posters are usually only saying things to get a reaction too.
Some of them were awful after we played them Their biggest gripe are people from Hull supporting someone else from what I gather
Not convinced they represent the majority's view TBH, I think there are a few GC type users on their board that shine brighter than the rest. Bad apples and all that.
I actually wanted them to keep their name and have praised them this year but really wish I hadn't. Hive of filth over there.
