I've always thought that Sunderland would struggle to convert those games into points and I am beginning to think that my 36/7 point 18th spot prediction may be a bit high.

Hopefully, as I still think reaching 37 is beyond us.

Everton are looking like they might push Arsenal for forth. Could be that we both need the points on the last day.

No, I didn't forget. See bottom paragraph.

Also though IF Sunderland beat west ham they still have a massive task to get on level terms with us with their games in hand. Also their home form has been almost as bad as their away form so there is no guarantee that they will beat Cardiff, west brom or the swans.

Then if they do beat west brom and Cardiff then it would almost certainly put Cardiff down and severely damage west broms chances. I think we will just scrape through.

But for me, whatever happens we should not keep CH. We have not developed a style under him and we are slowly regressing, especially our away form.

They have won 3 times in the last 10 games, they would have to win 2 and draw one to be on 32 points, which probably wouldn't be enough to stay up.

They have 9 games left and need to win 4 to get to 37 points and given their fixtures I just can't see it. They haven't managed that kind of run the whole season.

3 points against West Brom, then I can't see us getting anymore (except maybe a point against Arsenal on the last day IF they have nothing to play for).

35 points may JUST be enough. Barely.

yeah sorry i missed that. let's hope you are correct. they've picked up 1 point from their last 5 games, so need a big change in results. every team in the bottom half will be supporting west ham tonight that's for sure.
one other thing, don't be surprised if they beat one of those top six teams, look at palace on saturday (and we also beat Spurs, although to be fair they have been hopeless). could still be some big scalps to come.

I'm hoping we can beat one of the big teams also, it's going to be bloody tight. I know that.

But I won't be that gutted if we do go down to be honest. I would prefer to stay up but we have had our chances and ****ed them all up.

Like villa at home and away. Cardiff away, Hull away, Fulham at home, west ham away and many more. We will deserve it if we go down in my opinion.

actually looking back at results, WBA and sunderland have been pretty ropey over the last 2 months. it's given me a bit of confidence, but we need to beat WBA first

That's why I can't see Sunderland pulling it out the bag, they would have to demonstrate form that they haven't all season long. Can't go from not winning any for 2 months then winning 4 in month. Surely.

But surely that is what everyone in the bottom half does.If teams had not failed they wouldn't be in the mix in the first place.

We HAVE to beat WBA or I truly think it's game over.

of course CT, that's why in my post above i've said everyone in the bottom half plus Newcastle will be 'blowing bubbles' tonight

taking your points per game analysis theory, WBA will get something like 6 or 7 points and sunderland 7 or 8.

The WBA - Cardiff draw was massive as was Fulham losing. If Sunderland lose (or draw) tonight then we would have got away with it to a degree, no thanks to Chelski! If we beat West Brom on Saturday it starts to look somewhat better again but our away form is an absolute disgrace now.

"Disgrace" is the perfect word, IMO. Inner or outer or neither up nor down, I think we should be expecting a lot better from both players and manager.

Sunderland v West Ham may not have been the last throw of the dice for the Black Cats but it is hard too see it as anything other than a turning point in the relegation fight.A bit like when Wigan went down at home to Swansea at this time last year. This fixture was potentially the most likely of those remaining to yield three points.
Instead it has left them marooned on 25 points. The current form table says it all.Cardiff and Fulham are in 18th and 19th spots with 4 points and Sunderland have just a single point from their last six games.Norwich have seven points, just one less than Arsenal.

Currently Cardiff have a win rate of 19%.Sunderland 20% and Fulham 22% While The Baggies score only 16%.
