Sorry for the lad, cruciate damage. Shows we missed a big chance on Saturday... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26820057
We could if we had a proper manager instead of one who builds up every opposition team to be barca and its no wonder our team looks defeated before the game even starts.
Plus Ings is not due back for another couple of weeks so they are relying on Barnes and Stanislous, neither of whom have had too many games this season.....although it would still have been unlikely I would have liked to see how Burnley would have coped had we been breathing down their necks....7 points was do-able.....still if they lose their next 3 games and we win ours its all to play for.......
If Ings comes back in a couple of weeks, it's very possible that he won't be match fit for a while (like our Charlie). So frustrating, as three points on Saturday would have put Burnley under just a bit of pressure.
Especially as when they beat us earlier in the season they opened a 5 point gap on us, yet we caught them in 4 or 5 games.....In the last month or so they have not really been under too much pressure as they have played really well and kept winning whilst those in 3rd to 6th have continually dropped points, hence the comfortable gap between 2nd & 3rd.....Saturday was the chance to start closing that gap but the powers that be made a complete haims of it.....
You should try watching a game Queens, it's painful and it's Harry's tactics (or lack of them) that's costing us...
Rodriguez, Austin, Ings, Vokes......don't bet against them having another goal machine in the wings, they make them for fun up there. I've never thought much about Burnley, or not since we battled them for promotion in 72-73 (they won, but we beat them 2-0 at LR in a great game), but I have been seriously impressed this year, hope they keep it up. We'll finish where we deserve to finish, or probably a bit higher we were shown way too much respect by a lot of teams earlier in the season.
Have to agree with Sooper here. Been to every game at home and apart form Boro and Burnley we've really flattered to deceive. I remember Harry saying at the beginning of the season that there will be games that we blow teams away 4/5 nil.....He's fast running out of games to keep to his word.
Although I agree with that I have not been that impressed with many other teams. Clearly Leicester and Burnley have done well but we should have beaten both of them at home. I thought Burnley were a lot better than Leicester at our place.
As far as I'm aware he watches most games to be fair. Redknapp had a total 'mare on Saturday by all accounts and its not the first time either. The only way for him to make up for this one is to go and beat a decent B'mouth side. He/we can do it, no problem.
Burnley fan here ....I went to above match in 73.....January I think....two very good sides but QPR were the better side in this match and deserved to win (our first of just two away defeats that season)...I remember Don Givens got one of your goals ...cannot think of other....Stan Bowles had a stormer of a match. Apart from losing, we were met with a hail of stones and half-bricks from a gang of 15/16 year-old QPR fans. After the match, one Burnley yob got flattened by a charging police horse. Great season and we managed to finish just one point ahead of the Hoops as champions with a 1-1 draw at Preston on final day - they needed a point to stay up and we needed a point for title - both sides were happy to play out a draw in a farcical last half hour. Both teams had some superb players - Don Masson, Bowles, Givens and Thomas for you....Casper, James and Dobson for us. We finished 6th in top flight the next season and were third behind Liverpool and Leeds most of the season. I think QPR finished in top half also. Oh As for having a young striker to step up to the plate, there is really no-one except for a lad called Jason Gilchrist, a member of development squad who has not even been on the bench ever. We're hoping Ings will be back for the Middlesbrough home game on April 12, but for the next two games at least we will have to scrape by with Barnes and someone like Stanislaus, Treacy or Wallace playing in the hole (4-4-1-1 instead of usual 4-4-2). Why on earth Dyche did not sign someone on loan before last Thursday's deadline is hard to understand. Could prove to be a monumental mistake costing over £100 million.
Nice one - don't think we had Masson for another couple of years though, our midfield general was Terry Venables that season. Why on earth you sold Dave Thomas to us I'll never work out, he was brilliant for us for years. You'll be fine this year if you keep your heads.
Burnley would stay second before us even without strikers. We have a weak team for the rest of the season because of the injuries and burnley should be more aware of derby.
Yes, Masson was a bit later thinking about it (1978 WC in Argentina).......I remember Phil Parkes (GK), Gillard (LB), McLintock? also, the late Neil Clement (RIP). Excellent team. Dave Thomas was a funny one - I think he had a huge bust-up with the manager Jimmy Adamson early that season and QPR snapped him up soon as it became clear Thomas and Adamson did not see eye-to-eye. Thomas was right-wing and Leighton James left-wing - what a luxury, but Frank Casper was my favourite, classy striker who should have played for England. In that team was Keith Newton, a superb left-back even at 31, - played in the infamous 3-2 WC quarter-final loss against Germany in Mexico. Our weakest player was probably Mick Docherty, son of Tommy, at RB. You could hardly get a *** paper between Burnley and QPR that season.
