We will have to agree to disagree Phil.

But when we are in back in The Championship having lost to Barnsley on a Tuesday night in front of 6,000 I will remind you of the bigger white elephant you wanted to build.

Yes and one day we could be back up in the premier league, or one day we may never be relegated and could kick on become an established premier league side! And yes the council and whoever agreed to spending £30m of public money should be lambasted for their glaring lack of thought, the civil servants won't get a roasting because they are just doing their jobs, and because there is no accountability will stay anonymous, the council on the otherhand can't hide!

Can you tell when we have ever got 6k in a league match no matter what day it's on?

Have to say that although the Council are to be applauded for finally building a stadium that has really helped build up the status and success of Swansea City, they were very short sighted in limiting the capacity. Main reason for deciding to limit it to 20,000 were the extra grants available for building a smaller stadium and around £3m was received from football sources on the proviso that our games got priority over any other activity including the rugby.

One thing to remember though is that when the Swans were in dire straits back in the eighties we were forced to sell our Vetch Field ground to the council for the paulty sum of £50,000 just so that we could survive. They got a very good deal from that and are now sitting on land that is worth a fortune...if they can find the right buyers to develop it.

I will make an assumption. I will assume you are fairly young eg under 25.

I will now state a fact. Since the Swans beat Hull 4-2 to stay in the Football League, the Swans have been moving in an upwards direction. We have not had a bad season.

One day we will have a bad season. We may have several bad seasons.

Many of our fans, who have been brought up on winning football will disappear. That is another fact.

Playing in front of 6,000 on a Tuesday is always only one season away.

    "Forced". Wrong word - chose.

We sold because we were financially inept at the time.

No mate I am not in my twenties, I have followed the swans since I was kid , and my first away game was Preston to go up to the old div1, so you do the maths, my point is that since we have been in the liberty we haven't got a crowd under 12k in any league game, and have in fact averaged over 15k for the last 3 years!

So don't pull the supposition of some distant future game and say that because of 10 years ago we had 6k at games that it will happen again! I thought you dealt in facts , the fact is the club is in progression not regression !

    Jager,

Maybe in years to come we could be getting crowds the size of the mighty Leeds Utd. haha

That way it doesn't matter if we don't win anything for 30 years or what ever. We can still be a massive club in what ever tier we're in haha

Petty I know but **** it

and no club goes backwards forever either, as clearly can be seen by our club being in the position we are in now, compared to 10 years ago!

Some clubs do. They go out of existence (or at least the Football League) for making stupid knee jerk reactions.

I don't want to build no big white elephant for Plastic or otherwise, what I do want is for us to continue to progress, as we have been doing since taking up residence at the Liberty. You seem pretty sure that one day we could well be back down in League 1 or 2, but for that to happen we would need the assistance of another Petty character, and I don't see that happening any time soon, with Huw Jenkins and the board we have. What I can see is us coming back down the second season, but with the benefit of experience and parachute payments, to assist us in another challenge to the Premiership, Swansea should have been, and could have been 2 tier club these last thirty odd years, but we were never run right, now that we are, I'm not one to look back, I'm one who prefers to look forward, and to see us build a solid foundation for decades to come, we are doing just that, yes there will be issues and hick-ups along the way, as this stadium expansion issue, has shown, and I'm sure the board will address this problem in all good time. If I saw our current position in the Premiership as some one night wonder, then in all fairness I probably would agree with you PGF, but I don't see it as that, and even if we come straight back down, we will still be a top 10 Championship club, pushing for promotion to the Prem again, so the issue of additional seating is not going to go away. Just for the record, I think that 5 to 8 thousand additional seats for the foreseeable future should be enough, and we should be able to find a way to extend the ground to accommodate, but in the final analysis we will not know what the club will do till next may by all acounts!...........

Phil, if we are run right, the Championship is a cert. Thank Huw for that. When we have established that for a decade then move to Velindre!!!!!

Well I'm pleased you think so, and so do I, but why move to velindre, with a new stadium, surely that is going to be even more expensive than extending the Liberty, and we are going to shortly embark on the Academy near to the Liberty at Landore playing fields, which would make that a complete wast of money!..........
