Pretty sure he got sent off for a second yellow against Cardiff in the Championship too. Actually, not pretty sure, he definitely was sent off against Cardiff.
He's an absolute legend at this club and will be a player that I hold in high regard for the rest of my life. Such fighting spirit and loyalty for the badge topped off with bags of ability. I don't quite understand what Sousa and, to a lesser extent, Laudrup didn't see in him. One of the first names on my teamsheet every game. He'll never play for England until a progressive manager in the mould of Rodgers/Martinez takes over. Quite simple, England don't use a player like Leon in their system at the moment. He's redundant to them. You have to be able to dribble it around 10 players/hit 100 yard passes/score 40 yard goals to get into the England midfield. Their system doesn't require a play-it-simple, hassling terrier breaking up the play of the opposition...it's probably why they're useless. We already moulded his perfect replacement, Joe Allen. I was ready for Joe to start taking over from Leon and then he left with Brendan. Hopefully he'll get his Champions medal and his taste of the Champions League, then I'd happily see him return in a few years to take over when Leon retires. For now...Ki is the closest we have to Leon on our books.
Exactly. To spend £6million on the lad and then ship him out after one season is a travesty. Let's get him back here for next season. Currently, if Leon gets injured then Canas is the only like-for-like replacement. I like Canas, but I like Ki more.
If Ki had a good expierence here to start out then ok , but can't see him fitting in comfortably next season. Maybe though now that Laudrup is gone I suppose . Didn't they have a survey last season or the season before asking , then , current Premier league managers which midfielder in the whole league they would like to have with there team and Britton was #1 among them . And he can't even get a look from the English team . And England wonder why they have problems .
Not like for like. Canas is far more the tackler and coverer and Ki is the better passer. Would depend on the makeup of the team.
Like-for-like purely in a positional sense (DM). I didn't really go into specifics in my post. There would definitely be situations for both individuals. However, from my experience, I think you can teach a player to tackle and get stuck in, but it's harder to teach a player vision and passing ability, hence why Ki seems the better long term prospect in my humble opinion.
Ki is playing with more of an edge to his game at Sunderland due to the fact that he is playing as an offencive midfielder, and he looks at home in that position and he has been putting some great balls through the channels, even getting on the score sheet himself, think we should keep him!............
