That does seem to be the case, doesn't it, particularly if you believe as I do that HR was a decent coach in his day. I do wonder what made him take the job though. Hard to believe he needs the money and at age 66 he can't enjoy a 3-4 hour round trip every day.

Good question. My guess is he took the job because of:

    1) Ego - the desire of seemingly all managers to show they can do things better than others - 'save' teams, handle difficult players etc (Balotelli would not have a career if this were otherwise). I suppose their self belief is an essential to do the job, but also leads to the irritants like blame shifting we see all too often. Very few do a Keegan and admit a job is too much for them.

    2) Greed - I think there is a generational thing which says 'no amount is too much, could all disappear tomorrow' which has also driven the endemic corruption in a certain generation of british managers - bungs, dodgy deals etc. Given that many came from pretty deprived backgrounds and have never had 'proper' jobs, I suppose its understandable. Makes me feel sick though. Also, with Redknapp, at one stage his property development company was £5m in the red - this may not be the case now.

In the right circumstances these traits could foster high achievement. But H has just run out of steam, he's as committed to this job as BAE is to his loan.

I don't know about that fellas. I read an article in The Sun recently in which Jenas said despite Redknapp's knee being in tatters, he'd make sure he was on the training ground at all times, balking and roaring at the players. Whether that be on a crutch or like one time, carried out and put in a chair. I'm not sure what would motivate a player to make that up so I'd take it at face value.

Good, and I have some sympathy with him given the injuries, but I'm afraid the wild inconsistency in this team, including the shape and tactics, just yell out that something's not right.

Agreed. However, I still think the main problem is some of the players themselves and the balance of the squad just not being right. People have short memories considering we had what I think was the most rotten squad in QPR history only a few short months ago. We still have a hangover from that disastrous stint in the top flight and it'll take more than one season to cure. The balance thing would require at least another window to address. There needs to be another cull, albeit a much smaller one than last Summer.

What man destroys in an instant can take an age to put right.

If we allow ourselves an indulgence for a minute and agree to cut Arry some slack, then looking at the number of injuries we have suffered to supposed key players this season, then being 3rd in the league with 7 games to go, is more than respectable and is proof that we have strength in depth in the squad not to go into free fall. However, it is easy to then simply counter that argument by recognizing that in fact with that strength in depth in the squad, being anything less than 3rd would be totally unacceptable.

Arry hides behind injuries whilst the more vocal and articulate of his senior players (JB) comments on the actual strength of the squad and undermines Arry.

I felt Saturday between 15:00 and 17:00 would be a benchmark for what we should expect from this team for the rest of the season. Leicester had just beaten Burnley. Burnley have just lost their two bang in form forwards and he had an opportunity to wipe the floor with Blackpool and send a message to Burnley that we are coming to get you.

    We didn't

    and we won't.
