    "Clutching at straws?"

How is what I stated clutching at straws.
All I see in you is a pedant arguing over the 2 pts rather than concede the premise (which still holds) .

"Reinforcements are needed (especially defensively for both) and a period of patience from fans for teams to be rebuilt and to settle.
    There is no magic cure."

The finances of Man Utd help a little bit though, LDL. :)

Never said you did. I implied you were clutching at straws thinking being 13(15) points from top is acceptable when your team has spent heavily on a group of players who don't show passion or commitment.

1996-7 was bloody depressing viewing: injuries to our best players throughout the season meaning at one point we were pinning our hopes on Steffen Iversen, getting knocked out of the League Cup with a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Bolton, going one worse and losing 7-1 at St James' Park in the league, and the general sense of waiting for the season to end coming by late January.

As I do not think tis acceptable, the implication, like you, is wrong (again - sigh) .
But I did tell the OP that the current state of affairs is hardly cause for depression compared
to most of the post 1991 era.

But as is so often the case with the p-i-s-s poor WUM wannabee, simple things like
an inability to read and understand basic English precedes hitting the "post" button (you have my sympathies) .

In a way, this season has been such a come down. We ended last season where we did only because of Bale. At this moment, we look weak and vulnerable at one end of the field, and flaccid and impotent at the other. We're not bad at passing it around amongst ourselves in the bit in between though!...

    "Touchy!"

Explaining to a p-i-s-s poor WUM wannabee their inability to read English is hardly "touchy" .
Especially if it spares them further embarrassing repetition of this in the future. <you're welcome>

  12. For me, it's not that we've lost these matches under Sherwoodie - I never expected us to win every match, anyway - but the way we've lost them. A decent team shouldn't expect to be hammered, not even once in a season, and if it does happen, you'd expect any decent side to learn from it, make themselves stronger as a result, and move on; but we have suffered hammering after hammering, and we have got worse, not better. Nor do we seem to be made stronger by these hammerings, we seem to be weaker. We have, slow but surely, been made the laughingstock of the EPL.

The goons where hammered by City, Liverpool and Chelsea. Teams that where meant to be there rivals so we're not alone! North London Laughing Stock. Available in Red and White!

  14. Agreed, but we all expected to Arsenal to flounder this season. It's only because they had the easiest start to a season in recorded history that they have managed to stay in the top 4 for so long.

We, on the other hand, were expected to kick on; and, instead, we have been running backwards.

Spurs mistake has been repeated over the years I.e. as a manager do not threaten success
If you do they sell the team from. Under you
And of course sack you for failures perceived (remember "there used to be a football club there" )
I have followed our Spurs since 1948 and feel lower at this time by the sheer lack of motivation and signs of a plan A than during any previous period

Yes, we were hammered away but at least we put up a fight at home. Drew with both Chelsea and City, and beat Liverpool at the Emirates (twice if you count the Cup). You lot got hammered home and away.

I dont think its been that bad a season for you.
1.Youve had a mare with managers. (The look on Sherwoods face anf lack of answers post match today should have finalised the printing of his P45.)
    2. Shed load of new players, some of which have improved consistancy through out the season
    3. Lost your best player beginning of the season
    4. Most competitive Premier League ever? (Its not like you are 30 points behind like we were last season.)

All that and you are still not a million miles off of champions league

Sack your manager, get someone in who can build a team out of the good players you have, (British I reckon, Hoddle would be a good shout.) and you will be fine.

Jack just accept we're both a laughing stock. City , Liverpool and Chelsea fans laugh at you being classed as title challengers and they have thumped you.

We're a shambles and have had two managers so our season has been largely self destruction but Liverpool and City have been hammering most teams.

Then there is Utd and Moyes who are being ridiculed.

Take you're pick as us, yourselves and Utd are all being laughed at.

Not really. I am actually pretty happy with our season. The three hammering's have been hard to take, although at least against City, we showed our attacking qualities, but the other two were horror shows. But you lot, along with Manchester United have easily been bigger laughing stocks than us. We are in the semi-finals of the Cup, and are still in the top four. Most of us, would have taken a trophy and a top four place at the start of the season, and we are on course for that. The cup is our silver lining, you lot have nothing. We have been ridiculed for three results, you lot have been ridiculed for more than that, and also the way you have run your club. So you lot have been a laughing stock from top to bottom.

To sum it up, you lost three NLD's without scoring a single goal, lost twice to West Ham at home, lost 9-0 to Liverpool over two games, lost 11-1 to City over two games, lost 5-1 to Chelsea over two games and got dumped out of Europe after being destroyed by Benfica at home.

If you fail to win the cup what happens? Still happy? You have been riducled as you attempted to be title rivals but where completely hammered by your rivals. If you want to join in a contest of who's more of a laughing stock then that doesn't say much for your ambitions as the teams you should be talking to view you as being of no significance.

As for us, there is nothing anyone can say to make our situation worse as we have caused our own downfall.
