MattTheMuppet, you are a joke. How do you expect people to take you seriously when you cannot tell the truth! Tell me where in the above do you state 'around' 10 assists? You consistently stated 10 as fact and even now won't accept 7 as correct. If you go around bragging of your detailed research when it is made up fiction don't be surprised if you are exposed and please don't take the rest of us for fools.

Apologies for my oversight, but my view was perhaps clouded by Brownie going on to make some of the worst signings in Premier League history.

As for our Championship signings under Brownie, overall they were good, other than Folan we paid very little in fee's though we did run up £9m in debt with the wages we paid to the likes of Okocha, Pedersen, Folan etc. In fact, we were offering double the wages that we're offering now.

If Pearson wasn't lumbered with having to spend half his wage budget on five of Brownies **** ups, then we'd probably be signing far better players than we are currently.

And finishing higher, seems worth it.

Given the fact that he apparently thinks Hobbs is worth £800k, this is debatable.

Contributed to ten goals. I believed his assists were 8 and he scored a league and cup goal. Oh look! 8+2 is ten . Contributing to goals doesn't mean scoring or assisting. It's both. Liar? Where did I state ten ASSISTS? Oh look again! Nowhere. You try to pick holes in my argument but really the only hole you've managed to find is the one located in your head...

For every Akpan there's a Rosenior. For Harper there's a Chester. The difference between Brown and Pearson is Brown would have signed Akpan on £20k a week for 4 years!!!!!! Pearson did a 'try before you buy', where's the issue here? Pearson N just being sharp with our transfer policy.

I wouldn't want Phil Brown within a hundred miles of our club ever again. He's a cretin.

You win the most ridiculous post of 2011 so far, well done. I suggest talking from your mouth next time you post, not your arse.

To Matt The Tiger and others who sing the praises of Jozy Altidore by quoting 'stats' to prove their point could I give you the all important 'stat' - in three years Jozy has scored 1 goal in 10 appearances for Villarreal, 1 goal in 10 appearances for Bursaspor and 1 goal in 28 appearances for Hull City. This equates to 3 goals in total over a three year period. Not very impressive. If you would like to go to the American "Big Soccer" Boards you will find one forum entitled "Young Turk Jozy Altidore: It's been Villarreal" where they will welcome you with open arms. They will tell you what a **** team Hull City was and still is (their words not mine), will wax lyrical for post after post on that magical moment when Jozy "turned" the English/Chelsea Captain, John Terry (I never actually saw this and watched the game in it's entirety), as well as equally adoring plaudits on the Messiah like qualities of THAT goal against Spain. Do not spring to Hull City's defence by drawing to their attention that this was the EPL and that Jozy was way, way out of his depth, nor the fact that he has no left side game whatsoever and can't head a ball to save his life or (like me) you will be banned for a short time after almost causing World War Three.
We can turn anything into a 'stat'. Did Jozy play better when he wore underpants with the stars and stripes on them or just plain old boxer briefs. Alas, we will never know but the facts are pretty plain. Jozy's management and advisers have a lot to answer for. He was nowhere near ready for the EPL and was thrown like a lamb to the slaughter when he came to us. His American fans lauded him like he was the Messiah of American Football and we expected far too much from him. From the early games it became obvious to older eyes that this kid had a lot to learn. He had no left foot, couldn't head a ball and couldn't shoot. He was overrated and was nowhere near worth 6 million quid. It has been reported that he didn't take too kindly to training and that Phil Brown once said of him "He thinks he's a big-time Charlie"! Sadly, because my grandchildren who spoke to Jozy on his twitter thing regularly and said that he was a really nice guy, Jozy's career has not improved and he appears to be in limbo. Perhaps he could do something at this level but it would be a brave Club who would take the chance on a young bloke with his goalscoring record and who is on huge wages (we were paying him 20,000 quid per week when he was on loan to us).
Your defence of Jozy is to be commended but he needs to drop a level (at least) and try to get back on track by knuckling down to some hard work on his left side game and heading ability.
