ooooo errrr... Q: Nico, I guess you're looking on your mobile there at the points position because you're not only leading the World Championship but you've extended your lead today in the World Championship. But to take you back to earlier in the race, you seemed to have a few problems with the rear tyres, we were hearing over the radio, maybe you could tell us a bit about that - and also maybe a bit about the start as well.... NR: First of all the start, I had a really good start, so I was happy about that because it's not so easy this year. The rear tyres are harder and we have more torque. So it's very difficult to get it right - but it felt great and got away well and then Sebastian, I thought he was going to put me right into the wall, but he stopped just before - so thank you for that! SV: I had a similar experience last year... NR: ...that doesn't make it right to do it again! My heartbeat skipped a beat a little bit but I kept right on it, it was OK anyway, it wasn't that bad. Then I had a bit of a moment in Turn Three, a bit of a tail, tank-slapper and that allowed them all to get another run on me, but it all worked out. And then I was just trying to chase Lewis but he was a bit too quick today. It was a bit difficult out there because the track was really poor, it seemed, sliding so much, and just struggling with the rear tyres especially. That made it a bit difficult out there.
I don't understand what all the fuss is about when it comes to a bit of a squeeze off the start these days. I'm all for it.
Didn't see the interview live so could well have been tongue in cheek, but who knows. Was towards the end of the official top 3 press session.
He left him the exact space needed, so can't argue with that but I don't like any car swerving across the track.
Mostly pointless but some comparisons: Hamilton vs Vettel: please log in to view this image Fairly consistent Vettel vs Alonso: please log in to view this image Alonso clawed some back when Red Bull covered themselves at the end Mark Thompson ‏@F1Thommo 33m FIA further reprimand Red Bull due to them using incorrect equipment during pack up! #MalaysiaGP #anyexcusetostiffrb pic.twitter.com/ROMmZXx53h please log in to view this image
If it's an erratic move across other cars, then I agree, but a squeeze to the wall is totally legitimate for me.
Not sure if this has been discussed. 2013: 1:38:57:681 2014: 1:40:25:974 2013: Perez 1:39:199 2014: Alonso 1:44:165 Lap Record 1:34:223
Sounds like Vettel was suffering with ERS harvesting during the race so more pace can be found just by reliability. Vettel: "Negative harvest zero, negative."
You would have loved it, Hamilton pole and then lead every lap! I'm sure there will be a poster of this win out soon to add to your collection
Ham got the fastest lap at 1:43.066 Although that is still a fair bit less that last time (average speed drop of ~ 7.5kph over a whole lap) Things will improve, last year was with cars that hadn't changed much for years and had been developed to the max. This year has room for massive aero, mechanical, electronics and engine development
