Nigel Pearson- “I will be looking to extend his contract regardless of what league we are in next season because I think he will bring a level of performance and knowledge, which will add to the squad.”

Wasyl has been superb since Liam Moore's injury. A real team player and as character he has added alot of steel to us

He was a contributing factor in our late November/early December form but I have to say he's been imperious recently.

Says a lot that he's keeping Moore out of the team.

He had a cracking game today. None of their players could get past him.

Deserves a contract extension on knowledge alone. Will be interesting to see if he can cut it in the prem fitness/pacewise, but definatly deserves his shot.

International captain - played against some of the best players in the world - solid as a rock for us since he has been playing regularly and scares the **** out of opponents. Just my opinion though.

I think he deserves a chance Ed, after all Rio Ferdinand held his own into his 30s and I think that with a full pre season Wasyl could be awesome in the prem

true, but with all respect Rio was a £30m one of the worlds best defenders. Good, yes. But we cant have too many on the books who arent up to the task. I just think he looks a little unmobile for the likes we will get in the premiership.

Dont get me wrong, top bloke, great championship CB but if he is anything more than 4th choice CB id be very worried.

I would give Wasilewski a contract. He has earnt it

Send Miquel back to Arsenal though and release St. Ledger. I would love us to get Steven Caulker from Cardiff but he would cost a bit but i think he would be more then worth it. Him and Liam Moore could be our centre halfs for many years

You can tell Nige really gets on with Wasyl from things like tunnel cam and the odd clip from training.

i think he is just a bit immobile for the premier league and can see him really being troubled by pace. Obviously id love him to be able to as he is a top bloke and wears his heart on his sleeve i just think he will struggle.

Bobby Moore was one of the slowest centre backs I have ever seen (or wing halves) but his positioning, experience and reading of a game also made him the best English defender that I have ever seen. Would still walk into the England team (and captain it) if he was a current day footballer.
