With the title race over for all but the current four leaders, who will be the eventual winner? Current leaders Chelsea with 66 points have 8 matches left, so could reach 90. 4 of their matches are at home, including one v Arsenal and have not been defeated at home all season. Away from home, they have dropped 5 points recently against mid-table teams and have yet to play Liverpool away. Liverpool are the form team, having won their last 5, scoring 18 goals in the process and beating Arsenal. They have a very good home record and have 5 home games left, with Tottenham, Man.City and Chelsea yet to visit. Away from home they have dropped points in half their matches, so their target of 89 points is far from certain. Arsenal, could also reach 89 points and appear to have the less difficult fixtures left. Their 5 home matches remaining include a test against Man.City who put 6 past them in December and together with their next away game v Chelsea, these matches appear to be their main hurdles to reaching a season total of 89 points. Lastly, Man.City, with another 11 matches to play, have the title to lose. On paper, they should win all 6 remaining home games against lower opposition, (although Southampton may give them a good game). Away, however, where they too have dropped points in half their matches, they play Man.Untd, Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton. It would appear that they have the toughest task of reaching 93 points, but only need to reach 90 to win the title. My prediction is that Liverpool will be champions for the first time since 1990.
Thanks to Chelsea, things have got a lot harder for Arsenal so far as the Premiership is concerned. Just as well for Wenger that his team are favourites for the cup!
Chelsea or City's now IMO. Barring a miracle Arsenal and Liverpool are done Positive is we can focus on the cup now
I said City a while back so i'll stick with that. Chelsea look the most likely though. We have a sniff, and so still, do Arsenal.
Liverpool are now clear favourite to win the title IMHO. The top four at the end of the season are likely to be: - Liverpool Man City Chelsea Everton !!
That prediction is looking good! Certainly Everton is a strong contender now for a Champions League place next year.
Still sticking with City although I wouldn't rule Chelsea out at all. I reckon City vs Liverpool could easily end up a draw and can see Everton knicking something from City as they also have it all to play for. Sunderland also fighting for their lives makes it harder for both City and Chelsea. Liverpool need 6 points from Chelsea and City to win it imo, which I just can't see happening.
It's still a 3 horse race imo. Exciting end to the season for sure - may the best team win My money is on Everton taking 4th - I'd love that personally. For 2 main reasons, Arsenal dropping out. But mainly because Moyes left Everton to join the 'Champions' and Everton have done better
P.S. If Liverpool do win, it will be a victory for football. City win again (or Chelsea) it's a victory based on money.
