I groaned when I saw the team line up yesterday. I felt we were in for day when the team weren't going to turn up. For the first half, my expectations were met. Blackpool were by some degree the worst team I have seen us play, yet we still ended the first half a goal down, to Blackpool's only attacking move. Second half saw Hoilett to the rescue. Once again, almost solely the only R who actually will have a run at the other side and take on players. Had Hoilett started, we almost certainly would have won. 15,000 or so of the crowd knew that, why the hell didn't our management?
I agree with some of the OP. BUT, "It was a good point". Just because you thought we may only draw is not justification for that oppinion. Also win at Bournemouth? We might but they would be very close to the top of recent games table. No Swords, it was a terible two points to drop. Blackpool are by far the worst side I have seen this season but our manager showed his intent by playing a pair of wing backs that would have struggled to be selected for my ex Ipswich Sunday league side. Admitedly an ex Ipswich player was at right back! IF our position between 3rd & 6th makes no difference why are Yun, Petrasso & even Donaldson not starting games? We would then see if they are good enough. They would certainlt contribute more than Hughes, BAE, Kean & O'Neil do. Where I think you are right, is that we will win the play offs. Our "superstars" will be really up for that & love the attention of "winning" promotion for Queens Park Rangers at Wembley. Who knows, Harry might even offer to oduble their salaries to keep then with us!
Seriously Sheff, there were three points for the taking there, that has to be the most clueless starting line-up of the season in a season of clueless line-ups and Harry is to blame for them all...
Only to daydreamers and fantasists it did. I swear there's more Walter Mitty types on this Board than you'd find at a Lib Dem Country retreat.
Wasn't at the game yesterday so can't really comment on the tactics or performance. It is now extremely unlikely that we'll catch Burnley, although, they have both Ings and Vokes out at present and look completely toothless. So it would appear that if we are to make an immediate return to the PL it will be via the play off route, can't say I'm particularly looking forward to it but it's the best we can hope for. One thing we must remember is that there were a lot of players missing yesterday and that would have an impact on any team, no matter how good they are.
Incorrect. You asked me last week do I watch them and I told you I do, every week when the Rhino takes his finger out and hooks us up! Of course you should play to win and Harry made a balls of it yesterday. But being realistic, anyone with a fraction of a clue knew a long time ago that Auto was long gone. You yourself went further and said we wouldn't even make the Playoffs!
Id just love to have read the reports had maiga actually scored that chance.... Fickle comes to mind..
True, but that was before we beat Boro and Wigan and Burnley picked up injuries to key players for the first time this season. For an hour Burnley had given us the opportunity to apply some pressure and we flunked it. It was a long longshot but a win yesterday followed by Burnley stuttering could have made for an interesting run-in but Harry has shown he really doesn't have a clue and, as you say, Burnley should make it now. I don't hold up much chance in the play-offs with our track record, after all the only time we made the play-off final it was in Cardiff and our opponents were Cardiff, how QPR is that?!...
No the Autos were a stretch but definitely possible when Burnley lost, and also lost Vokes in addition to Ings yesterday lunch time, and they have a tough looking run in. From his team selections and formations it almost seems like Arry wants a last day out in the limelight at Wembley more than he wants an Auto. I don't buy this about Arry being clueless either - he's been around too long for that, and his excuses every week show he still has his wits about him.
I know what you're saying mate because losing a Final is very tough but again, stepping back and looking at it analytically, our record in the playoffs is actually quite good! Out of four teams that qualified last time, we finished second. We actually drew the final and probably were the better team that day. Considering that, there's no reason why we can't go one better this time and win the thing. As long as we get the Chazzmatazz back and give him a couple of games before the Semis, we have a decent chance.
Mine would have been identical other than Maiga getting a higher score out of ten. It wouldn't have changed that first half.
I think you will find Swords that we lost the final 1-0. We drew over 90 minutes but lost after extra time. If only Williams has passed!
You are both daft... of course we have a squad that is good enough for the premier league ... it's up to a manager to get them playing as one ... I hope it isn't Harold but if it is then i hope we get a decent coach because anyone could take our current squad and turn them in a decent premiership team. Remy Taarabt Granero Cesar Mbia are still QPR players and bloody good ones at that
Tommy Bloody Williams! What a ****er!! There is a excellent example of loan players playing for themselves rather than the team.
I do. The buck stops with him. This is his squad and his team selections and tactics. Our only hope is that the play offs are a lottery. If, and its a big if, we can play like we did against Wigan for 3 games then we have a chance. If we setup and play any of the games like yesterday we dont have a hope in hell. Of course I will be behind the club and team and hoping for the former, but whatever happens I look forward to the day when Arry is history at my club. He depresses me that much. For the 3 games though I'll be fully behind the team, as I have been all season, but bloody hell its been a **** footballing season.
I'm on the same page with you: well said. Although, anything is possible and nothing is certain, either way. I'm starting to feel positive about the playoffs. I think we'll step up at crunch time. The only problem is, I wonder if we're ready for promotion or if it's best. Financially I guess it's best.
No we didn't. Officially we drew. Check it out. Indeed. But the official game result was 0-0. Like I said, check it out. Either way though, we still finished 2nd out of 4 in that Competition.
We shouldn't be afraid to go up awjm, should we of course be fortunate enough to do so. I can understand why a lot of fans have reservations about it when you consider our two previous terms in the Prem, but with the right manager in place and hopefully Tony learning from previous misjudgements we can start to build again. Palace you could say weren't really in a position to go up and look at them now. It looks like they're going to remain there for at least another season. That was a very good opening post btw Sword's. Of course you're correct in the majority of what you state. I think that our fans exasperation is because of a perceived regression as the season has gone on. If we had been mid-table and had worked our way up to third instead of topping the charts and going backwards it may well been accepted by the majority as an improvement. The fact that we went top gave us a modicum of hope, especially after having seen the team play badly and still end up at the top of the pile. We thought that we would see them kick on and play with a more expansive and attacking style of football. This of course hasn't happened. For Harry to then continually get the starting eleven persistently wrong and play the wrong personnel in the wrong positions has also become very frustrating. I can appreciate that we've been hampered by injuries but I believe he has still had the quality to field a better side than the majority of clubs in this division. We have good players but Harry hasn't managed to get the best out of them. For whatever reason, ( Probably not getting the England job and getting the boot by Spurs. ) Redknapp has lost his enthusiasm for his job and the game, and we're taking the brunt for that.
Whether we go up via the play offs or not, we know it will be a big summer for replacing the squad. If we do go up I just hope we get in a few players who aren't purely signed in a desperate attempt to stay up. Give a few younger players experience, play with passion what will be will be. And only 1 or 2 f**king loan players and short term contracts, I feel completely disconnected from our current team, a huge proportion of them will spend less than 12 months at the club at most. The playing side of the club seems to have no foundations at all, we need a nucleus of players who will be with us for 3+ seasons. And it goes without saying we need a proper manager/coach.
