Becchio was given a new contract on much higher wages,Beckford was offered £30+ thousand by Everton.Johnson was crap as was Kilkenny and Howson was forced out nothing to do with wages.
Not too sure about Johnson being crap, he has played just under 100 times in 3 seasons for a prem team
Was a free transfer, they took a chance. Not like they don't do stupid things is it,sign the championships top goalscorer then never play him. Johnson last 2 seasons at Leeds av 6.5 goals per season. johnson 3 seasons at Norwich av 1.66 goals per season. Has he stepped up to prem standard ? If he was good he would stand out in a poor team. He's poor in a poor team.
Johnson was useless at Leeds because Grayson played him on the wing or at LB, when he eventually switched him to defensive midfield he started playing well, but by then he was also playing for a new contract and knew if he didn't get one he could leave on a free at the end of the season. Don't know how he's been performing at Norwich as I don't really give a crap, but at the time I was happy to see him leave. He'd probably get in our team now though
Irrelevant to the topic at hand. He was on the contract he signed when he arrived from Wealdstone. The best Leeds could do from him was offer him an extension. Absolutely pathetic! For the record, I was/am not a huge Beckford fan, he brings too much baggage with him, but to take a position that he was not worth more to the club than when he arrived was close to criminally negligent,
Any support for your facts? I will throw one out - The former owner's actions threatened the very existence of the club during the administration debacle and included numerous acts of dubious legality. He then proceeded to rack up the debt after emergence from administration. To even think that GFH are worse than beggars belief for me.
I was never that enthralled by Clayton, but I thought Johnson was excellent and never understood why he was played out of position all the time
Elmo, because Grayson was clueless ... including playing another midfielder Andy Hughes at left and right back Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Those figures are wrong and you know it. Becchio was valued at 2m and Morison was a direct swap for him
Don't know about the other players but Beckford wanted 15k a week. He was offered 25k+ at Everton but was happy to continue at leeds if he got his 15k, it wasn't offered and so he went I find this argument quite irrelevant anyway
Also playing O'Dear at LB first game of the season away to Southampton where he got ripped to shreds by their pacey winger instead of playing Aidy White there. Grayson had no clue when it came to sorting out the defence.
How was Becchio valued at £2M - he had turned down a new contract and handed in a transfer request?£ And a "direct swap" isn't spending £2M is it, it's spending £0
