You meant me Attacking Laudrup or Monk over performances is no problem, we can all judge that for ourselves. What actually happened with the sacking is still a mystery.
".... Monk is not the right man and then mentioning terms like rookie manager and no contacts". But, Project, he IS a rookie manager and, for a Premier League manager, he does NOT have the required contacts. A definition of rookie: someone who has just started doing a job or activity and doesn't have much experience. As for contacts, surely that is self explanatory. However, Monk not being the right man is open to question. He might well prove to be the right man but, as I write, I don't think he is. This will not prevent me supporting him 100% because he is the coach of my club and their fortunes are inextricably bound together - one doing well means the other is also doing well. It's too late to change managers this season but, should we stay up, I still hope that we go for an experienced man WITH contacts for next season. This is not because I have anything against Monk, my feelings are born from a wish that I want the best for us and I think that Monk is not the man to take us further at this point in time. That said, I think that Monk should in any event be retained in a senior coaching capacity and given EVERY CHANCE to develop into becoming our coach when circumstances permit and are right.
sorry valley , you to dai , misread your post , me bad . Was hoping Monks name wouldn't even appear on this thread . For me, its all to do with games up till Laudrup got sacked and games after Laudrup getting sacked. Its the board that has me seething , not Monk . I want Monk to win every game and retain the managerial appointment into next season .
Disagree ivor , if Monk comes up with a very strong finish he should continue . Martinez started out as a "rookie"manager if I'm not mistaken and look what he did for us and where he is now.
Martinez didn't have Premier league players either when he started out, "rookies " should not be painted with the same brush , no two are the same .Monk and Martinez knew the club previous to being manager and is a big plus imo . Do I think Laudrup should have been sacked , absolutely not but thats not to do with Monk . Should Monk get a chance to start next season as manager , maybe , see how the final 7 games go .
The Premier league is no place to learn your trade, and I do not think that Monk will be appointed long term, but he would make a great understudy to whoever comes in, so as long as he keeps our boys motivated to keep us up, that's all I'm interested in until the summer!...............
Draw against Arsenal and now a win against Norwich, 3-0 too?? So can we all relax now please!!!.....................
And yet it was a rookie manager who put us where we are today, Martinez is the manager ultimately responsible for giving us a system that allowed us to get to the Premier League. We are not Mancheter United or Everton or even Stoke... all of whom have the budget for good already proven managers who would tow the line. Monk or someone like Gary Megson... Monk everyday. I think there more to just the dire performances that led to Laudrup being sacked, and that putting Monk there meant restoring some sort of order. My own personal opinion is that Laudrup got bored after winning the cup, much like he got bored everywhere else he has been before leaving barring his first managerial job. His history from his playing days show he is a stubborn and difficult person to deal with, he left to join arch rivals Madrid so I don't really buy the loyalty thing neither because he simply hasn't lasted long enough anywhere to be tempted by a bigger club... they stay far away from him.
Being a rookie manager in the premier league is a bit different to the third division. Most important thing a manager can do is to bring in the right players, and we are very lucky with the players we have got. The doubts regarding monk is if he can bring in good players closed season.
.... Monk is not the right man and then mentioning terms like rookie manager and no contacts". How the hell do you know what contacts he has??? the simple answer is you dont. What is different from managing a league two side to managing a premiership side ?? They both have to manage a club, they both have to select a team and they both have to do their best. Its a fact that the lower in the league you are the more harder it gets to manage a club as they don't have the man power and facilities or the money that premiership teams have...Monk is not the first ex player to take charge of a premiership club and he wont be the last, What possible reason is there to say monk cant be a very successful manager as he has turned our club around in a very short space of time and is respected by everyone in football who has ever spoken about him. Experience means jack **** to outsiders as the only experience we need is how Swansea is run and how Swansea plays and there is not a manager other than Martinez or Rodgers who has the experience that monk has got and jinx is spot on in giving the job to monk....there is no better out there if you want experience...
Make no mistake , this was Monk doing a great job managing Laudrups very good , and well put together, finally fit team. Both managers deserve credit , to by pass Laudrup is only fooling yourself . Well done Garry, now bring on 6 more beauties!
